Job summary

United Breweries Ltd. in Bengaluru seeks a highly experienced Packaging Leader to design, specify and manage packaging lines for brewery operations.

You will lead end-to-end execution of Greenfield projects, select equipment, coordinate with design, construction and operations, and ensure testing, commissioning and handover meet strict performance benchmarks. This role requires 15–20 years in packaging, strong process-control expertise, RFQ management, vendor relationships and hands-on

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Design and specify packaging machines and equipment for bottling lines.
  • Lead end-to-end execution from concept to commissioning for Greenfield projects.
  • Coordinate with design, construction and operations teams to integrate packaging lines.
  • Troubleshoot packaging line issues and ensure minimal downtime.
  • Document I&A systems, test results, and manuals.
  • Provide progress reports to management and mentor engineers.

Job description

We are looking for a highly skilled Packaging with 15-20 years of experience in designing, specifying, and managing packaging machines, specifically for brewery or similar industrial environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and selecting suitable beverage packaging lines, overseeing end to end execution of all aspects for our Greenfield brewery projects, and ensuring the systems are designed, tested, and operationally efficient. This role requires deep expertise in glass bottle and Can packaging machines along with leadership capabilities to manage end-to-end execution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design & Equipment Specifications:
  • Design and provide detailed specifications for packaging machines bottle washers, beer fillers, pasteurizers, labellers, packers, conveyors and palletizers.
  • Select the most suitable machines, ensuring they meet the technical specifications, operational needs, and budgetary constraints of the brewery.
  • Prepare Requests for Quotation (RFQs) for packaging equipment, ensuring specifications are aligned with project requirements.
  • Evaluate vendor proposals from a technical perspective, ensuring compliance with project needs and applicable standards.
  • End-to-End Execution:
  • Lead the end-to-end execution of packaging activities for Greenfield brewery projects, from initial concept through design, procurement, installation, and commissioning.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with design, construction, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of packaging lines with the brewery’s overall operations.
  • Act as the point of contact for troubleshooting issues related to packaging lines, ensuring the timely resolution of any technical issues that arise during the project.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve system issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous operation.
  • Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning ensuring they meet design specifications and performance benchmarks.
  • Ensure that all systems are thoroughly tested before the handover to operations, including functionality, safety features, and operational efficiency.
  • Continuously monitor the performance of equipmentto identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.
  • Analyze performance data and collaborate with the operations team to fine-tune systems for better efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
  • Ensure proper documentation of all I&A systems, including technical drawings, specifications, test results, and user manuals.
  • Provide regular progress reports to senior management, highlighting key milestones, technical challenges, and solutions.
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to execute project tasks effectively.
  • Provide training to operational teams on the functionality, maintenance, and troubleshooting
Required Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
  • 15-20 years of experience in handling packaging lines, with a strong focus on process control systems in the brewery, industrial, or food & beverage sectors.
  • Ability to understand and translate the process team’s requirements into effective solutions.
  • Experience in preparing and evaluating RFQs, managing vendor relationships, and selecting the right equipment
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
