Job summary

Himalaya Wellness Company is looking for a highly motivated Packaging Development Technologist to join their Packaging Development team in Bengaluru, India. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in packaging and 7-8 years of experience in the packaging industry. Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Packaging Development Technologist to join our Packaging Development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative packaging solutions that meet our business objectives and customer needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Packaging Development: Design, develop and test new packaging concepts and materials for various product categories.
  • Packaging Optimization: Identify opportunities to optimize existing packaging to reduce costs, improve sustainability and enhance customer experience.
  • Material Selection: Evaluate and select packaging materials that meet quality, safety and sustainability standards.
  • Testing & Validation: Conduct testing and validation of packaging materials and designs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross‑functional teams, including R&D, Marketing and Manufacturing to ensure seamless packaging development and implementation.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all packaging developments comply with relevant regulatory requirements, such as food safety and environmental regulations.
  • Sustainability Packaging Projects: Lead and execute sustainability focused packaging projects, such as reducing packaging material usage, increasing recyclability and promoting eco‑friendly packaging solutions.
  • Artwork Management: Review and approve packaging artwork, develop key line diagram in compliance with brand consistency.
  • Vendor print capability assessment: Evaluate and assess the print capabilities of packaging vendors.
  • Specification & BOM creation: Create & maintain packaging specifications and Bill of Materials (BOM) for new and existing packaging designs.
  • Line trials & Pack Establishment: Conduct line trials to ensure smooth packaging production and establish packaging standard for new and existing products.
  • Innovation: Stay up to date with the latest packaging trends, technologies and innovations and apply knowledge to drive business growth.
Travel Requirements

Frequent travel to manufacturing sites, suppliers and other company locations for line trials, packaging establishment and commercial production.

Requirements
  • Education: Masters or PGDP in packaging from IIP or equivalent institutes.
  • Experience: 7‑8 years of experience in packaging industry.
  • Skills: Proficient in packaging development process, testing and validation methods.
  • Knowledge: Technical know‑how of packaging materials and their manufacturing processes.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, collaboration and project management skills.
