Job summary

Murugappa Water Technology And Solutions seeks an engineering leader to define the long-term vision, roadmap, and standardization for the design function in water projects. You will ensure compliance with international codes and client requirements, evaluate risks in tender documents, and guide multi-discipline reviews and as-built modifications.

Qualifications

• Define and execute the long-term vision, roadmap for the engineering and design function.
• Ensure all process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and civil/structural designs comply with international codes and client requirements.
• Evaluate technical risk factors in tender documents and define clear scope boundaries.
• Validate layouts, equipment specifications and P&ID during post-order execution.
• Collaborate with project management, proposals, supply chain, and installation teams to optimize energy-efficient pumps and footprint.
• Oversee the preparation and multi-discipline review of detailed engineering deliverables.
• Develop the project deliverables plan and milestones for drawing approvals.
• Review designs during execution to mitigate scope creep and lower costs without compromising performance.
• Provide engineering troubleshooting during construction and commissioning; oversee as-built modifications as required by site realities.
• Plan engineering hours and manage workload across internal teams and external consultants; monitor productivity.
• Mentor engineers and drafting staff, fostering skill enhancement in water technologies.
• Uphold design change-management, version control, and design review gates to minimize rework.
• Implement Safe by Design principles and energy-optimized footprints.
• Adhere to reducing targeted engineering budget and overall project cost.
• Be self-initiator, team builder, problem solver and strong communicator.

Job description

Candidate must have

• Define and execute the long-term vision, roadmap, and standardization frameworks for the engineering and design function.
• Ensure all process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and civil/structural designs comply with international codes, statutory regulations, environmental laws, and client-specific requirements.
• valuate technical risk factors in tender documents, identify potential bottlenecks, and define clear scope boundaries.
• validate layouts, Equipment specifications and piping and instrumentation diagrams during Post order execution
• Collaborate closely with the Project management, Proposals, supply chain management, installation team such as selecting energy-efficient pumps, optimal pipe sizing, and footprint minimization
• Oversee the preparation and multi-discipline review of detailed engineering deliverables
• Develop the Project deliverables plan and Meeting project schedule milestones for drawing approvals.
• Continuously review designs during execution to mitigate scope creep, reduce material weight / consumption, and lower construction/ installation costs without compromising performance.
• Provide engineering troubleshooting during construction, erection, and wet/dry commissioning phases. Oversee design modifications (As-Built engineering) as required by site realities
• Plan engineering hours, manage workload distribution across internal teams and external consultants/ sub-contractors, and monitor productivity.
• Mentor engineers, equipment specialists, and drafting engineers, fostering continuous skill enhancement in emerging water technologies.
• Uphold strict design change-management procedures, document version control, and design review gates (Design Reviews) to minimize rework and non-conformances.
• Implementation of "Safe by Design" principles and energy-optimized footprints.
• Adherence to reduction of the targeted engineering budget and overall project cost.
