Job summary

WTT International in India’s Tamil Nadu state seeks a senior design leader for water/wastewater treatment plants to head Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation, and Civil & Structural design teams.

You will drive a unified release schedule, convert proposals into ready-for-build drawings, datasheets, and calculations, and lead reviews across disciplines to ensure quality and compliance with Indian standards and overseas codes.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of design experience in water/wastewater plants.
• Led multi-discipline design teams with draw release milestones.
• CAD and 3D modelling expertise with AutoCAD and a major platform.
• Knowledge of PLC/SCADA architecture and control philosophy.
• Experience on RO and ZLD systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation, and Civil & Structural design teams as one function with a unified release schedule
• Convert design basis from Proposal & Process into GA drawings, equipment datasheets, hydraulic/structural calculations and construction-ready drawings
• Lead design reviews and resolve clashes before drawing release
• Own the drawing release schedule aligned to project milestones
• Approve vendor drawings; drive as-built documentation and final dossier handover
• Enforce 3D modelling discipline and drawing quality standards
• Build design standards and a reusable equipment/drawing library
• Drive value engineering — cost-out on steel, concrete, piping and equipment without compromising performance
• Ensure designs meet Indian standards and relevant international codes for overseas projects
• Mentor and structure the three discipline teams, build competency in automation

Job description

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Lead Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation, and Civil & Structural design teams as one function with a unified release schedule
• Convert design basis from Proposal & Process into GA drawings, equipment datasheets, hydraulic/structural calculations and construction-ready drawings
• Mechanical: equipment selection & sizing, piping layouts/isometrics, tank & skid design, material selection (MS, SS, FRP, HDPE)
• Electrical & Instrumentation: single line diagrams, MCC/panel design, cable schedules, load calculations, instrument selection, PLC/SCADA I/O schedules and automation philosophy
• Civil & Structural: RCC tank design, foundations, structural steel, plant layout and GA of the treatment plant
• Run formal design reviews and inter-discipline clash resolution before drawing release
• Own the drawing release schedule aligned to project milestones
• Approve vendor drawings; drive as-built documentation and final dossier handover
• Operate a documented design change-control process no silent changes post-freeze
• Build design standards, calculation templates and a reusable equipment/drawing library
• Drive value engineering — cost-out on steel, concrete, piping and equipment without compromising performance
• Ensure designs meet Indian standards and relevant international codes for overseas projects
• Lead, mentor and structure the three discipline teams; build competency plans, especially in automation
• Introduce and enforce 3D modelling discipline and drawing quality standards

Desired Candidate Profile:

• 15+ years of design experience in water/wastewater treatment plants, with deep expertise in at least two of the three disciplines (Mechanical/E&I/Civil)
• Proven leadership of a multi-discipline design team with responsibility for drawing release schedules against live milestones
• Strong command of CAD and 3D modelling — AutoCAD plus one of Solid Edge, Creo, BricsCAD or equivalent
• Working knowledge of plant automation — PLC/SCADA architecture, instrumentation selection, control philosophy
• Experience on RO and ZLD systems in addition to conventional ETP/STP
• Demonstrated value engineering outcomes with quantifiable cost savings
