Job summary

Mahindra and Mahindra Limited in Chennai seeks a Senior CAE Engineer to lead crash, NVH and durability analyses for BIW body systems. You will define DVPs from RWUP, interpret CAE/Lab results and propose design changes to meet performance targets while preserving weight efficiency. Extensive experience in automotive CAE is essential.

Strong understanding of CFMEA/DFMEA processes and CAD data maturity, plus ability to drive lessons learned into early-stage design and cross-functional reviews.

Qualifications

• 12 to 15 years of experience in CAE for Body systems.
• BE / BTech / ME / MTech in Mechanical / Automobile / CAE.

Responsibilities

• Define the component and system level DVPs of Body systems based on RWUP study.
• Set performance targets based on RWUP and review test results.
• Share inputs for master sections of Body systems and verify adequacy.
• Provide design proposals to meet weight targets without sacrificing performance.
• Review BIW joinery, sections and load path data and give feedback.
• Drive CFMEA and DFMEA robustness and deploy learning in early design.

Job description

• A comprehensive understanding of vehicle durability, NVH and crash performance
• Ability to extract DVP requirements related to Body systems from PDB (Product Description Book) provided by Product Planning.
• Sharing Inputs for creating master sections of Body systems and verifying its adequacy with ref to Performance.
• Ensuring Lesson learnt related to performance are deployed in the early stage of the design.
• Analyzing benchmark tests & reports in terms of performance for the Body systems.
• Defining the component and system level DVPs of Body systems based on RWUP (Real World Usage Pattern) study .
• Setting Performance Targets based on RWUP.
• Sharing valuable inputs related to Performance and making CFMEA and DFMEA Robust.
• Deep understanding of materials used in Body systems and its manufacturing process.
• Provide performance inputs for making BIW CAD data maturity along with relevant Benchmarks
• Review and Analyze the released Body Systems data and share performance feedback of BIW Joinery, Sections and Load path etc.
• Design action recommendation/solution based on the CAE results (Crash, NVH, Durability) / Test /Lab results that are not meeting the Performance.
• Provide Design Proposals to meet Weight targets without compromising on Performance.
• Good understanding needed on the Regulation and GNCAP/ENCAP/BENCAP requirement in Crash
• Checking the supplier level DVPs and provide feedback
• Verify the test plan and test setup for component, system and vehicle level testing sign off.
• Assessing the subsystem & components level testing in the testing Labs
• Identify Root cause for the BIW/System/Sub-system level failures in vehicle testing / Lab / Supplier Rig level Testing and propose solution to meet Performance Targets in consultation with CoE Heads.
• Ensuring the recommended solutions for any deviation sign off
