Job summary

Gemological Institute of America (GIA) seeks an experienced leader to oversee the HR and Admin function for India, covering Mumbai and Surat. You will partner with Corporate HR to drive talent management, succession planning, and employee engagement while ensuring compliance with labor laws and internal policies.

You will also manage administrative operations, MIS, vendor relationships, and implement HR programs aligned with global templates, ensuring efficient, compliant, and strategic HR

  • Oversee the HR and Admin function for India (Mumbai & Surat).
  • Liaise with Corporate HR in Head Office.
  • Develop HR strategy, budgets, systems & procedures for talent management and development.
  • Drive strategic projects like Human Capital Strategy, knowledge transfer, succession planning, inclusion & diversity, and change management.
  • Improve HR operational efficiency and high employee engagement within corporate guidelines and labor laws.
  • Build HR as an effective business partner and align compensation, benefits, engagement and organizational development with business goals.
  • Manage HRIS, manpower planning, and compliance with statutory benefits and labor laws.

Job description

Has overall responsibility and oversight for the HR and Admin function in India (Mumbai & Surat) The profile includes oversight for employee relations, compensation & benefits administration, Talent acquisition & Development, Succession Planning, employee engagement & development, implementation and administration of GIA’s human resources programs and employment policies as per global HR template, personnel record-keeping, and compliance with HR laws and regulations. Along with overseeing the day to day operations of the Admin function, this role also ensures in creating and maintaining efficient administrative systems.

Human Resources
  • Responsible forthe Human Resourcesfunction for India (Mumbai &Surat)
  • Liaise with the Corporate HR in Head Office.
  • Develop HR Strategy, Budgets, systems & procedures for talent management and development.
  • Drives organization wide strategic projectslike Human Capital Strategy, Knowledge transfer & succession planning, Inclusion & Diversity & Change Management
  • Improve HR Operational efficiency, drive high employee engagement and productivity within corporate guidelines and labor laws.
  • Build and transform HR as an effective business partner. Work with business leaders to implement best practices in Compensation & benefits, employee engagement, organizational development.
  • Provide recommendations on compensation data to Corporate C&B team based on local market analysis and bench marking, and monitor execution in order to ensure that jobs are benchmarked on the basis of internal parity and market equity.
  • Manage an effective HRIS system
  • Responsible for manpower planning, high quality talent attraction & retention to meet business goals
  • Ensure HR systems & procedures are aligned with all regulatory and internal compliances vis‑vis employee records, statutory benefits, labour laws.
  • Identify trainers and drive employee participation in training programs in order to ensure skill upgradation, continuous employee development and capability building Mentor and coach the HR team.
Administration
  • Collaborates with allmanagementstaffto identify and deliverthe required administrative support operations for the organization.
  • Develops, evaluates, andmaintainsthe management information system (MIS).
  • Serves as a member ofthe organizations key administrative decision‑making and planning body.
  • Monitor vendors and service provider’s performance regularly to ensure quality of service/ delivery within specified timelines.
  • Ensure compliance to statutory norms and requirementsrequiredforsmooth functioning of services and office.
  • Accountable for internal and external administration audit.
  • Champion process improvement projects
  • Oversight of transportrequirements, cost management, employee safety & efficiency of the transport services
  • Ensuring that all policies and procedures established under the Laboratory’s Management System (LMS) are acknowledged and implemented at all levels of the department in alignment with requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard.
  • Authorizing sufficient resources and assigning appropriate authorities to key personnel to be able to carry out their responsibilities in relation to establishment, implementation, management, and improvement of LMS, including identification and management of risk and opportunities.
