Job summary

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in Mumbai seeks a dynamic professional to build and nurture client relationships, drive growth, and elevate the brand across retail environments. Job description

Builds and nurtures client relationships within the assigned territory, driving business growth through strategic market development and brand elevation. Focuses on expanding the client portfolio, strengthening key partnerships, and generating demand for GIA’s services, including newly launched jewelry services. Leads initiatives to promote laboratory services and education programs, Champions visual merchandising and in-store branding strategies to reinforce GIA’s market presence and ensure consistent brand representation across retail environments Lead market development initiatives across North region, aligning regional strategies with GIA’s broader growth objectives.

  • Drive business growth by achieving development targets through strategic planning, client partnerships, and expansion of existing and new service lines — including loose diamonds, melee screening, assortments, jewelry services, pearls, specialty report services, and education.
  • Oversee territory planning and ensure timely execution of outreach and development activities to maximize market penetration.
  • Oversee the establishment and operational readiness of Trust Centers in alignment with organisational standards.
  • Contribute to service-related revenue enhancement through client education, product understanding, and need-based service adoption.
  • Collaborate with the inside sales team to design and implement impactful retailer engagement programs.
  • Strategize and execute targeted SMS and email campaigns to enhance retailer outreach and promote GIA’s Education both accredited and unaccredited courses.
  • Monitor performance metrics and prepare comprehensive monthly progress reports for self and team, highlighting achievements, challenges, and actionable insights.
  • Ensure timely updates to the management on relevant industry developments and emerging market trends to support strategic decision‑making.
  • Developing KOL – Key opinion Leader in the region
  • Develop and implement regional strategic initiatives in collaboration with trade bodies, associations, and key industry partners.
  • Identify and explore new markets, business opportunities, and partner clusters for expansion.
  • Conduct in-depth market intelligence activities including market mapping, lead generation, and client profiling.
Visual Merchandising & In-Store Branding:
  • Develop and implement visual merchandising strategies to enhance brand visibility and customer engagement across retail partner locations.
  • Ensure consistent application of GIA’s brand guidelines in all in-store displays and promotional materials.
  • Collaborate with retailers to optimize store layouts, product presentation, and signage for maximum impact.
  • Conduct regular audits of retail spaces to ensure compliance with branding standards and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinate with design and marketing teams to create compelling point-of-sale materials and visual assets.
  • Train retail staff on brand presentation, visual standards, and customer experience best practices.
  • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of visual merchandising initiatives and adjust strategies accordingly.
Education Offerings:
  • Create awareness and provide counseling for GIA’s education offerings, with a special focus on unaccredited courses and skill-based learning programs.
  • Drive GIA’s outreach initiative by taking GIA’s appropriate course offerings to off-campus classes for Diploma and Extension.
  • Lead end-to-end execution of on-off-campus classes, including venue selection, on-site arrangements, logistics, and coordination with internal teams and external partners.
  • Ensure all student communication and outreach activities remain compliant with GIA’s policies and uphold the institute’s standards of professionalism and integrity.
Planning & Organizing:
  • Record all activities in the CRM tool in prescribed work-flow.
  • Generate and use self-monitoring reports to stay on course.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity while recording activities.
  • Collaborates with Instruments, Laboratory, Education divisions, and other cross-divisional staff in addressing and resolving account issues to ensure timely and appropriate responses to customers.
  • Adheres to customer satisfaction standards set by the Institute in delivering excellent, knowledgeable service, and flexibility to effectively deal with a variety of people and situations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
