Job summary

Linxon GETS Chennai, India is seeking a Sr. Designer Electrical to join the Chennai engineering team.

You will independently handle 2D design and detail engineering for substations, including protection schemes, relay panels and control systems, while ensuring IEEE/NESC/ANSI compliance. The role requires 10+ years of CAD/MicroStation experience, a degree in Electrical & Electronics, and strong expertise in AutoCAD/MicroStation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years' CAD/MicroStation design experience.
• Experience delivering substation projects with AIS & GIS.
• Diploma or degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• Experience with AutoCAD/MicroStation and substation deliverables.
• Ability to ensure IEEE/NESC/ANSI compliance.
• Site experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform 2D design and detail engineering of substation projects using AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Develop protection and control schemes for substations (up to 400kV) including single-line, three-line, and wiring diagrams.
• Design panels and control rooms (Relay, MOSAIC/MIMIC, LCC, SAS/SCADA) and prepare BOMs.
• Prepare technical reports, design basis, specifications and drawings.
• Ensure designs meet IEEE, NESC, ANSI standards.
• Collaborate with civil, structural and electrical teams; attend client/internal reviews.
• Monitor schedules and ensure timely delivery of design packages.
• Maintain design change records and document engineering decisions.

The Sr. Designer Electrical – will be a member of Linxon GETS-Chennai Engineering Team and will contribute towards the effective operation of the business unit. The Sr. Designer Electrical will work on project/Tender specific activities assigned to the GETS group along with skilled team on a wide range of international T&D substation projects, classified as medium engineering complexity. Individual contributors using prior theoretical learning or knowledge of methods and technologies to execute work assignments using established solutions. The position provides design for engineering discipline across multiple engineering projects within the GETS. Complete the assignments on major projects, cost-effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards. Highest quality standards are applied, and safety requirements are taken into consideration

What will you do?

• Independently work AutoCAD/MicroStation platform for the 2D design and detail engineering of substation Projects.
• Independently work protection and control schemes for substations (Up to 400kV) Develop single-line, three-line, AC/DC schematics, trip matrix, interlock logics, terminal block drawings, Relay selections and wiring diagrams.
• Design relay panels, Control Panel, Mosaic/Mimic Panel, LCC Panel, SAS/SCADA, DFR, DSM Panels detail drawings, cable schedules, and bill of materials.
• Prepare technical reports, Design Basis, specifications, and drawings.
• Ensure designs meet IEEE, NESC, ANSI standards.
• Confirm the engineering is developed, taken into consideration the complete information and all inter discipline checks has been conducted, the results are documented in the project specific storage area.
• Solves the cad issues that appear during engineering development.
• Collaborate with civil, structural, and primary electrical teams.
• Attend client/ Internal weekly meetings and review sessions
• Monitor schedules and ensure timely delivery of design packages
• Maintain records of design changes and engineering decisions
• Report and keep records for all engineering changes. Cooperate with the engineering team and agree on the project specific impacts, caused by the changes.
• Ensure compliance with Linxon and Client engineering guidelines, standards and quality across the complete engineering process and adhere to organisational QMS
• Creates work plans and cost estimates in own area of responsibility.
• Contribute to the Up-to-date design issue log.
• Implement new tools and technologies to enhance efficiency.
• Develop the tender engineering drawings in short time with quality.
• Safety – Understand and follow Linxon OHS procedures and guidelines.
• Participate at CAD design and Other Engineering tool reviews.
• Provide input for close out report and lessons learned and follow/review lessons learned for next projects.

Experience, Education And Other Required

• 10+ years' experience in CAD/MicroStation design
• Should have executed project engineering in CAD/MicroStation platform
• Diploma/bachelor's degree in electrical & Electronics engineering
• Any site experiences would be beneficial
• Sound knowledge in AutoCAD/MicroStation tools.
• Overall design experience on AIS & GIS Substation design.
• Hands on Experience in preparation of substation deliverables like Overall SLD, PSLD, Panel General arrangement drawings, Panel mechanical engineering related structure, equipment mounting, internal view etc.,
• AutoCAD, hands-on experience is must
• E3, Ebase, Elecdes, add-on experience
• Should have executed project engineering in AutoCAD.
• High attention to detail and quality
