Job Title: Sr. Designer - Electrical/ Sr Electrical Designer

The Sr. Designer Electrical will be a member of the Linxon GETS-Chennai Engineering Team and will contribute toward the effective operation of the business unit. The Sr. Designer Electrical will work on project/tender specific activities assigned to the GETS group, along with a skilled team, on a wide range of international T&D substation projects classified as medium engineering complexity. Individual contributors will use prior theoretical learning or knowledge of methods and technologies to execute work assignments using established solutions. The position provides design for engineering discipline across multiple engineering projects within GETS. Complete the assignments on major projects, cost-effectively and in accordance with contract specifications and quality standards. Highest quality standards are applied, and safety requirements are taken into consideration.
Responsibilities
- Independently work AutoCAD/MicroStation platform for the 2D design and detail engineering of substation projects.
- Independently work protection and control schemes for substations (up to 400 kV). Develop single-line, three-line, AC/DC schematics, trip matrix, interlock logics, terminal block drawings, relay selections and wiring diagrams.
- Design relay panels, control panels (Mosaic/Mimic), LCC panels, SAS/SCADA, DFR, DSM panels, detail drawings, cable schedules, and bill of materials.
- Prepare technical reports, design basis, specifications, and drawings.
- Ensure designs meet IEEE, NESC, ANSI standards.
- Confirm that engineering is developed with complete information and all inter-discipline checks have been conducted; document results in the project-specific storage area.
- Resolve CAD issues that arise during engineering development.
- Collaborate with civil, structural, and electrical teams.
- Attend client/internal weekly meetings and review sessions.
- Monitor schedules and ensure timely delivery of design packages.
- Maintain records of design changes and engineering decisions.
- Report and keep records for all engineering changes; cooperate with the engineering team and assess project-specific impacts caused by changes.
- Ensure compliance with Linxon and Client engineering guidelines, standards, and quality across the complete engineering process and adhere to organizational QMS.
- Create work plans and cost estimates in own area of responsibility.
- Contribute to the up-to-date design issue log.
- Implement new tools and technologies to enhance efficiency.
- Develop tender engineering drawings in a short time with quality.
- Safety – Understand and follow Linxon OHS procedures and guidelines.
- Participate in CAD design and other engineering tool reviews.
- Provide input for close-out reports and lessons learned, and review lessons learned for next projects.
Experience, Education And Other Required
- 10+ years' experience in CAD/MicroStation design.
- Should have executed project engineering in CAD/MicroStation platform.
- Diploma/bachelor's degree in Electrical & Electronics engineering.
- Any site experience would be beneficial.
- Sound knowledge in AutoCAD/MicroStation tools.
- Overall design experience on AIS & GIS Substation design.
- Hands-on experience in preparation of substation deliverables such as Overall SLD, PSLD, Panel General Arrangement drawings, panel mechanical engineering-related structures, equipment mounting, internal views, etc.
- AutoCAD hands-on experience is a must.
- E3, Ebase, Elecdes add-on experience.
- Should have executed project engineering in AutoCAD.
- High attention to detail and quality.
