Job summary

Linxon in Chennai, India, seeks an experienced Engineering Lead to drive the Traction Power design and EPC delivery across large, complex projects. You will mentor teams, guide tendering efforts, and ensure alignment with client expectations and international standards.

You will manage engineering resources, review designs, and lead risk assessments while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver turnkey substation solutions.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in Railway Electrification and Traction Power Systems.
  • At least 5 years in EPC Metro/RRTS/High-Speed Rail/Mainline Railway projects.
  • Proven experience as Engineering Lead or Discipline Lead on at least 2–3 major EPC railway projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage design engineering, procurement support, installation support and testing & commissioning activities.
  • Deliver complete Detailed Design Engineering for Traction Power Systems and ensure interface coordination across disciplines.
  • Coordinate with Civil, Track, Signalling, Telecom, E&M, Rolling Stock, SCADA and Construction teams for successful integration.

What will you do?

Using your experience and knowledge, you will be a part of the delivery of a variety of projects and bids drawing upon the wider team for the technical engineering requirements and building a strong relationship with our clients. You will be client-facing and as an expert you will be guiding and training the team, focusing on upcoming technologies and setting up working with the team and making sure it meets our client's expectation.

Responsibilities
  • Can manage/handle Design & Engineering of large and complex projects in Traction power which includes Design Compliance, Design phases & review and Stakeholder Management.
  • Technical Specification & proposal for bids preparation
  • Preparation of Design basis, feasibility report, technical reports etc
  • Understand the importance of interfaces with various discipline and able to control by mutually agreement without commercial impact.
  • Mentoring the team towards cross skill and enhance their skills by providing importance of Traction Power applications.
  • Aware latest international standards on Rail power in EN. IEEE, IEC, etc
  • Contribute to Tendering activities by supporting with preliminary design documentation & drawings, Bill of Quantities, Engineering Man Hour Estimates etc.
Stakeholder Management

Interface with clients, contractors, consultants, utility authorities and railway operators. Participate in technical meetings and progress reviews with clients and stakeholders.

Engineering Management

Manage engineering resources, schedules, deliverables and project budgets. Conduct design reviews, HAZID/HAZOP workshops, value engineering studies and risk assessments. Track engineering progress and identify design risks, mitigation measures and opportunities for optimization.

Construction & Site Support

Provide technical support during procurement, manufacturing, installation, testing and commissioning phases. Resolve site engineering issues, technical queries (TQs), NCRs and design change requests. Participate in FAT, SAT, Integrated Testing & Commissioning activities.

Lead Detailed Design & EPC Engineering Delivery

Lead complete Detailed Design Engineering for Traction Power Systems covering TSS, ASS, SP, SSP, OHE/OCS, Third Rail, SCADA interfaces, Earthing & Bonding, EMC and associated systems. Ensure engineering deliverables are produced in accordance with project schedules, quality requirements, employer specifications, and EPC contract obligations. Review and approve detailed design drawings, calculations, reports, material requisitions, technical specifications, and installation methodologies. Coordinate with Civil, Track, Signalling, Telecom, E&M, Rolling Stock, SCADA and Construction teams to ensure successful integration of interfaces.
