Job summary

Linxon is hiring a BIM Modeller - Electrical in Chennai, India. You will join the GETS-Chennai Engineering Team and contribute to international T&D substation projects, working on 2D/3D design and tender drawings using AutoCAD, MicroStation and Revit.

The role requires 6+ years CAD/BIM experience, Revit proficiency and knowledge of AIS/GIS substation design. You will ensure quality, safety and adherence to Linxon guidelines while delivering solutions on time.

Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Power Engineering.
• 6+ years of CAD/BIM design experience.
• Revit hands-on experience.
• Site experience would be beneficial.
• AIS & GIS substation design knowledge.
• High attention to detail and quality.

Responsibilities

• Independently work AutoCAD/MicroStation for 2D & 3D design of substation projects.
• Independently work BIM/Revit for 2D & 3D design and detail engineering.
• Develop tender engineering drawings with quality in a short time.
• Ensure completeness of assigned packages and correct function of subsystems.
• Confirm engineering is developed with complete information and inter-discipline checks.
• Resolve CAD issues during engineering development.
• Report and record engineering changes; coordinate with team on impacts.
• Ensure compliance with Linxon guidelines, standards and QMS.
• Create work plans and cost estimates in own area.
• Contribute to up-to-date design issue log.
• Follow Linxon OHS procedures and participate in CAD/BIM reviews.
• Provide input for close-out reports and lessons learned.

Job Title: BIM Modeller - Electrical

Job Location: Chennai, India

The BIM Modeler will be a member of Linxon GETS-Chennai Engineering Team and will contribute towards the effective operation of the business unit. The BIM Modeler– OPC will work on project/Tender specific activities assigned to the OPC group along with a skilled team on a wide range of international T&D substation projects, classified as medium engineering complexity. As an individual contributor, you will use prior theoretical learning or knowledge of methods and technologies to execute work assignments using established solutions. The position provides design for engineering discipline across multiple engineering projects within the OPC. Complete the assignments on major projects, cost‑effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards. Highest quality standards are applied, and safety requirements are taken into consideration.

What will you do?

• Independently work AutoCAD/MicroStation platform for the 2D & 3D design and detail engineering of substation projects.
• Independently work BIM/Revit platform for the 2D & 3D design and detail engineering of substation. BIM Process knowledge of PAS 1192 is an advantage.
• Develop the tender engineering drawings in short time with quality.
• Secure the completeness of the assigned packages and correct function of the resulting substation system.
• Confirm the engineering is developed, taking into consideration the complete information and all inter‑discipline checks have been conducted, the results are documented in the project specific storage area.
• Resolve the CAD issues that appear during engineering development.
• Report and keep records for all engineering changes. Cooperate with the engineering team and agree on the project specific impacts caused by the changes.
• Ensure compliance with Linxon and client engineering guidelines, standards and quality across the complete engineering process and adhere to organisational QMS.
• Create work plans and cost estimates in own area of responsibility.
• Contribute to the up‑to‑date design issue log.
• Safety – understand and follow Linxon OHS procedures and guidelines.
• Participate in CAD design and BIM model reviews.
• Provide input for close‑out report and lessons learned and follow/review lessons learned for next projects.

Experience, Education and Other Required

• Diploma/bachelor's degree in Power Engineering.
• +6 years’ experience in CAD/BIM design.
• Should have executed project engineering in Revit platform.
• Any site experiences would be beneficial.
• Good knowledge on AIS & GIS substation design.
• Hands‑on experience in preparation of substation deliverables like overall equipment layout/section, earthing layout, cable tray, lighting, lightning protection, cable trench etc.
• Revit tool hands‑on.
• High attention to detail and quality.
