Job summary

BMW TechWorks India Private Limited in Pune seeks an experienced design engineer to lead Roof Systems and Fuel Filler development within a cross-functional team. You will drive concept-to-release activities, coordinating with engineers, designers and suppliers to ensure robust, production-ready components for the relevant car line.

What awaits you/ Job Profile

• You will be managing and responsible for Roof Systems & Fuel Fillers development with cross functional team for the scope defined by module organization
• You will be responsible for ensuring that the releases are required for the module scope including the product functions for respective car line
• You will be responsible for reporting problems, risks, deviations from planning or targets, etc. and offering solutions/alternatives for the same.

What should you bring along

• Minimum 8+ years of professional experience in automotive Design and Development and should have delivered at least 2 complete projects as / Lead Engineer / Sr. Design Engineer
• Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders to achieve set targets
• A proactive, teamwork-oriented mindset with the ability to operate in a multicultural environment across different time zones.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong expertise in Catia V5/V6 CAD design with a focus on structured and parametric modelling
• Development of parametrical CAD-models for the concept development of Roof systems parts, Fuel Filler, Charging flaps, Plastic components, Roof Rails, Roll over safety systems & Convertibles.
• Knowledge of common Design methods of Sheet Metal, Plastics, Casting & extrusion components
• Good communication and English language skills (German language is an advantage)

Must have technical skill

• Very good skills in CATIA V5, especially in Generative Shape Design, Part Design, Drafting, and Digital Mock-up
• Familiarity with different manufacturing technologies for Sheet Metal, Casting, extrusion & Plastic components
• Understanding of Part fixation and assembly processes
• Proficient in creating CAD models in a structured way

Good to have Technical skills

• Good communication and English language skills (German language is an advantage)
• Experience with collision checks and integration of special characteristics, General tolerances & Stack tolerance
• Experience participating in integration meetings and interface coordination
