Job summary

Detroit Engineered Products (DEP) in Chennai seeks a Sr. Project Engineer to lead sheet metal design for automotive programs. You will design and model components with CATIA V5 and release drawings per PLM guidelines.

You will validate feasibility with manufacturing, apply GD&T and DFMEA, and collaborate with teams using Teamcenter/ENOVIA. Prior BIW/closure experience is a plus, along with OEM/Tier-1 release familiarity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in sheet metal design for automotive applications using CATIA V5.
• Solid understanding of automotive sheet metal design principles (hemming, flanging, etc.).
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes like stamping, welding, laser cutting, forming.
• Experience with GD&T, DFMEA, and DFM/ DFA best practices.
• Experience using PLM systems such as Teamcenter, ENOVIA, or equivalent.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
