Job summary

BMW TechWorks India Private Limited seeks an experienced Senior Design Engineer to lead Upper Body structures development. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage module scope and ensure timely releases for carline functions.

The role requires 6+ years in automotive design, strong CATIA V5/V6 capabilities, and excellent communication in English. Multicultural teamwork across time zones is expected, with a proactive, collaborative mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of professional experience in automotive design and development.
• Delivered at least 2 complete projects as Lead Engineer / Sr. Design Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Manage and be responsible for Upper Body structures development with cross functional team.
• Ensure releases are defined for the module scope including product functions for respective carline.
• Report problems, risks, deviations from planning or targets, and offer solutions/alternatives.

What awaits you/ Job Profile

• You will be managing and responsible for Upper Body structures development with cross functional team for the scope defined by module organization
• You will be responsible for ensuring that the releases are required for the module scope including the product functions for respective carline
• You will be responsible for reporting problems, risks, deviations from planning or targets, etc. and offering solutions/alternatives for the same.

What should you bring along

• Minimum 6+ years of professional experience in automotive Design and Development and should have delivered at least 2 complete projects as / Lead Engineer / Sr. Design Engineer
• Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders to achieve set targets
• A proactive, teamwork-oriented mindset with the ability to operate in a multicultural environment across different time zones.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong expertise in Catia V5/V6 CAD design with a focus on structured and parametric modelling
• Development of parametrical CAD-models for later use in the concept development of BIW Upper body parts.
• Knowledge of common manufacturing methods Sheet Metal components
• Good communication and English language skills (German language is an advantage)

Must have technical skill

• Very good skills in CATIA V5, especially in Generative Shape Design, Part Design, Drafting, and Digital Mock-up
• Familiarity with different manufacturing technologies for Sheet Metal, Casting, extrusion & Plastic components
• Understanding of Part fixation and assembly processes
• Proficient in creating CAD models in a structured way

Good to have Technical skills

• Good communication and English language skills (German language is an advantage)
• Experience with collision checks and integration of special characteristics, General tolerances & Stack tolerance
• Experience participating in integration meetings and interface coordination
