Job summary

Detroit Engineered Products (DEP) hires a Sr Designer skilled in BIW/Closures using CATIA V5, Teamcenter, and Vismockup. The role focuses on body-in-white structures, manufacturing processes, and design for stamping and assembly.

Candidate will work with cross-functional teams to develop and integrate BIW concepts, ensure GD&T compliance, and contribute to VA-VE initiatives across PV and commercial vehicle programs.

Qualifications

• Proficient in CATIA V5 (GSD/Sheet metal/Part/Assembly/Drawing).
• Experience in BIW (Body-in-White) design of structures such as underbody/front end.
• Understanding of manufacturing, tooling and stamping for BIW/Closures.
• Knowledge of DFMEA, DVP&R and GD&T documentation.
• Experience with VA-VE and value engineering proposals.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to concept development and vehicle integration.
• Lead the integration of interfacing components with cross-functional teams.
• Interpret DFMEA, DVP&R and GD&T to support DnR and improve design quality.
• Develop BIW/Closures concepts and select production-viable solutions.

DEP is hiring Sr Designer with Experience in BIW/Closures Using CATIA V5/Teamcenter/Vismockup

Description:

• Proficient in CATIA V5 (GSD/Sheet metal/Part/Assembly/Drawing Workbenches), Teamcenter and Vismockup
• Experience in BIW (Body-in-White) Design of Structures such as Underbody / Front End Structure.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling and stamping requirements, and assembly sequences of BIW and Closures.
• Relevant experience in AL-PL layout, Master Sections, Vehicle Integration, Vehicle Packaging, Concept creation, and assembly processes of various parts.
• Knowledge of relevant Regulations & Homologation requirements.
• Good knowledge and hands-on experience of GD&T for CAD models and drawings.
• Knowledge in WERS, GPDS & DPA 0/1 assessments in E2KS.
• Contribute to concept development, Value Analysis Value Engineering (VA-VE) and innovative proposals.
• Support the Design and Development of Body Engineering CAD concepts / solutions for Underbody, covering New Product Development for PV - Passenger Vehicle / CV - Commercial Vehicle.
• Work on cross-functional teams (Suspension, Powertrain, Manufacturing and Exterior (Upperbody) / Interior) to develop efficient designs and lead the integration of interfacing components.
• Able to interpret DFMEA, DVP&Rs and GD&T documentation to support DnR and enhance design quality.
