Job summary

Tata AutoComp in Pune seeks a Sr. Design Engineer for Automotive Seating Foam to drive CAD design of foam and plastic components in CATIA V5.

You will support both virtual and physical pre-production activities, lead design reviews with customers and internal teams, and ensure releases through PLM Teamcenter. The role demands strong seating system knowledge and experience with injection molding, DFMEA/DFMA.

Qualifications

• 2–6 years of strong design experience in foam parts of seating systems.
• Knowledge of automotive seating systems and injection molding.
• Familiarity with AIS, FMVSS, ECE, EURONCAP regulations.
• Experience with DFMEA and DFMA methods.
• CAD/design practices and drawing creation in CATIA V5.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for CAD design and development of foam/plastic components in CATIA V5.
• Deliver within compressed timelines and adapt to variable workload demands.
• Participate in design reviews with customers and internal teams.
• Follow standard work procedures and methodologies during works.
• Handle PLM Teamcenter for release processes.
• Provide CAD support and progress design to align with program schedules.

Job description

Position: Sr. Design Engineer - Automotive Seating Foam
Location: Pune

Role & responsibilities

• 2-6 Years of good design experience in Foam parts of seating systems
• Strong Knowledge of Automotive Seating System and Injection molding process
• Experience and awareness of AIS, FMVSS, ECE, EURONCAP, regulations applicable for vehicle collision, Interior Impact, and flammability of interior materials.
• Engineering feasibility check of styling surface.
• Design of locators, fixation, and attachment schemes.
• Tooling feasibility with Draft Analysis, thickness analysis etc.
• Hands on experience on surfacing/solid modeling/Drawing creation in CAD / CATIA software.
• Understanding of the design tools like DFMEA, and DFMA.
• Knowledge of GD&T application on plastic parts & tolerance stack-up analysis

Good presentation and communication skills.

Preferred candidate profile

• Be responsible for the CAD design and development of Foam/plastic components in CATIA V5
• Responsible to deliver within compressed timelines and adapt to variable workload demands
• Participation in Design reviews with customer & internal team.
• Responsible for following up all the standard work procedures, methodologies etc. during the works
• PLM Teamcenter Handling for Release Processes.
• Provide CAD support, leading and progressing the design in line with the program timescales and deliverable cadence
• Should be able to generate Master sections
• To check and manage clearance to interface parts.
• Support pre-production builds (both virtual and physical)
• Ability to work kinematics & DMU tool
