Job summary

Allaboutseats is seeking an experienced engineer to design and develop automotive seating systems from concept to production. You will create seat structures, select materials, and ensure manufacturability while aligning with customer requirements and regulatory standards.

You will lead CAE analysis, support testing, and collaborate with suppliers to drive design improvements, while mentoring junior engineers and maintaining schedule commitments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering.
• Strong experience in automotive seating design, structural analysis, and CAE simulation.
• Proficiency in CAD tools and CAE software (LS-DYNA, HyperWorks, Adams).
• Knowledge of DFMEA, DVP, regulatory standards (FMVSS, ECE, ISO 26262).
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.

Responsible for designing, analyzing, and validating automotive seating systems and components to ensure safety, comfort, performance, and manufacturability. Works across disciplines from concept to production, collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers.

Job Description

Design & Development

• Develop seat structures, mechanisms, and components (structures, Plastics, foam pads, covers)
• Proficiency of CAD tools such as CATIA V5, NX, or 3DExperience.
• Translate customer requirements and regulatory standards into robust and manufacturing feasible designs.
• Prepare design based on guidelines, drawings, and specifications for production and suppliers.
• Drawing creation using GD&T.
• Tolerance stack-ups to ensure assembly feasibility
• Strong knowledge of sheet-metal process, plastic components, Design For Assembly
• Building and recording Design proposals
• Strong adherence to project schedule and deliverables.

Simulation & Analysis

• Basis understanding of CAE model setups, analyzing CAE Reports & identifying risks.
• Build Design Change proposals based on observation and load-paths.

Prototyping & Validation

• Support prototype builds, new feature integration, and comfort evaluations.
• Coordinate physical testing, verify test setups, and compare with CAE simulations for accuracy.
• Document test results, analyze failures, and recommend design improvements.
• Contribute to new concept studies, design innovations, and process improvements.
• Keep updated with industry trends, patents, and advanced materials relevant to automotive seating.
• Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing within the team.
• Travel & visit to supplier locations as necessary required (domestic & overseas) for design reviews, component quality review and assurance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
• Strong experience in automotive seating design, structural analysis, and CAE simulation.
• Proficiency in CAD tools (CATIA V5, NX, 3DExperience) and CAE software (LS-DYNA, HyperWorks, Adams).
• Knowledge of DFMEA, DVP, regulatory standards (FMVSS, ECE, ISO 26262).
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
