Job summary

Lucy Group in Halol, India Engineering Center (IEC) seeks a Sr. Design Engineer to support contract engineering activities, create full product assemblies, prepare BOMs, schematics and wiring diagrams, and develop new features for MV/LV switchgear.

The role emphasizes prototype validation, collaboration with the engineering team, and delivering robust designs within project timelines while ensuring cost efficiency and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical/Mechanical or similar.
• 5–9 years of experience in relevant field.
• Understanding of switchgear products and their applications.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute contracted activities and CPE ECRs within specified timeline (Measured by Project Plan, ECR Backlog).
• Follow Lucy engineering design processes and issue drawings and BOMs using Lucy CAD system (Measured by Contract ECRs, Drawing checker).
• Design parts/assemblies keeping cost to a minimum without compromising quality (Measured by Product cost target).
• Assemble prototypes to validate new requirements before implementing them in design (Measured by Project plan, Test results).
• Prepare schematics and wiring as per customer requirement (Measured by Project plan).
• Provide required data to configurator team for feeding to configurator (Measured by Project plan).
• Complete technical reviews in the system within the standard timeline (Measured by Technical review tracker).
• Maintain all contract/technical review files for allocated contract/technical review information (Measured by Contract/TR Efficiency).

Job Purpose

The main purpose of the role is to support contract engineering activities. This will include creation of full product assembly in system, preparation of BOM as per customer requirement, preparation of schematics & wiring diagram, design & development of new features, validation by prototype and testing. The job holder will bring his professional expertise and knowledge in all aspects of MV/LV Switchgear.

Key Accountabilities

1. To plan and execute the allocated activities of contracts and CPE ECRs within specified timeline (Measured by Project Plan, ECR Backlog)
2. Follow design processes developed by Lucy engineering team and issue drawings, bill of material using the Lucy CAD system (Measured by Number of Contract ECRs, Drawing checking tracker)
3. To design part and assembly keeping cost to a minimum and without compromising the quality (Measured by Product cost target)
4. Arrange to build the prototype to validate new requirements before implementing it in design (Measured by Project plan, Test results)

Job Context

The position is responsible for executing contract related activities which is defined through configurator once contract awarded. Working as a key member within the team, who collectively execute all the necessary activities to maintain, improve and optimize customer requirements considering the commercial and profitability aspects. Responsible for prototype trials to validate new requirements.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge: Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical / Mechanical similar role and industry, Knowledge about MV/LV Switchgear, Application Engineering of switchboards, RMUs, LV Board.

Minimum Experience: 5 to 9 years of experience.

Job-Specific Skills: Understanding of customer needs, understanding of switchgear products & its applications, Understanding of schematics and wiring.

Behavioral Competencies: Positive attitude, Team player, good communication skills.
