Job summary

Lucy Group in Halol, India, seeks a Design Engineer (Contract Engineering) to support contract engineering activities. Responsibilities include creating full product assemblies, preparing BOMs, schematics, and wiring diagrams for LV/MV switchgear, and enabling prototype validation.

The ideal candidate will have a BE in Electrical/Mechanical, 5+ years of experience, and strong understanding of switchgear products and their applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical / Mechanical, similar role and industry.
• Knowledge about MV Switchgear, RMUs, Bus ways designing.
• Application Engineering of LV/MV Switchgear.
• Min. 5 years of experience.
• Understanding of customer needs, switchgear products & applications, schematics and wiring.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute the allocated activities of contracts within specified timeline.
• Follow design processes and issue drawings and BOM using Lucy CAD system.
• Design parts and assemblies keeping cost to minimum while maintaining quality.
• Arrange to build prototypes to validate new requirements.
• Prepare schematics and wiring per customer requirement.
• Provide data to configurator team for feeding to configurator.

Job description

1. JOB DETAILS:

• Job Title: Design Engineer (Contract Engineering)
• Reports to: Manager – CPE
• Direct Reports: -
• Department: India Engineering Center - IEC
• Location: Halol

2. JOB PURPOSE:

The main purpose of the role is to support contract engineering activities. This will include Creation of full product assembly in system, Preparation of BOM as per customer requirement, Preparation of schematics & wiring diagram, Design & development of new features, validation by prototype and testing. The job holder will bring his professional expertise and knowledge in all aspects of LV/MV Switchgear.

4. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• To plan and execute the allocated activities of contracts within specified timeline
  Performance Indicators (How accountability is measured): Project plan
• Follow design processes developed by Lucy engineering team and issue drawings, bill of material using the Lucy CAD system
  Performance Indicators (How accountability is measured): Number of Contract ECRs, Drawing checking tracker
• To design part and assembly keeping cost to a minimum and without compromising the quality
  Performance Indicators (How accountability is measured): Product cost target
• Arrange to build the prototype to validate new requirements before implementing in design
  Performance Indicators (How accountability is measured): Project plan, Test results
• To prepare schematics and wiring as per customer requirement

• To provide the required data to configurator team for feeding to configurator

5. JOB CONTEXT:

The position is responsible to execute contract related activities which is define through configurator once contract awarded. Working as a key member within the team, who collectively execute all the necessary activities to maintain, improve and optimize customer requirements considering the commercial and profitability aspects.
Responsible for prototype trials to validate new requirements.

6. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

• Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge: Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical / Mechanical similar role and industry, Knowledge about MV Switchgear, RMUs, Bus ways designing,
• Application Engineering of LV/MV Switchgear
• Minimum Experience: Min. 5 years of experience
• Job-Specific Skills: Understanding of customer needs, understanding of switchgear products & its applications, Understanding of schematics and wiring.
• Behavioural Competencies: Positive attitude, Develop and maintain effective relationship with internal & external stakeholders, Good communication skills.
