Job summary

Eaton in Pune, India is seeking a Sr. Engineer for MV switchgear and mechanism design. Lead new product development for AIS, GIS and RMU, coordinating with global teams to meet customer needs, cost targets and IEC 62271 standards.

You will drive design optimization, perform analyses, review tests, and mentor a multidisciplinary team to ensure on-time delivery with quality. This role anchors design ownership in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• B.E./B Tech (Mechanical) or M. Tech / MS (Mechanical) required.
• 9+ years overall experience with 5+ years in design, development, manufacturing process and testing of MV Switchgear.
• Experience leading New Product development projects and coordinating with global stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and Develop MV Switchgear (AIS, GIS, RMU) meeting customer requirements and cost targets.
• Coordinate with global stakeholders to drive project execution through design, testing and implementation.
• Provide technical ownership and ensure IEC 62271 compliance.
• Lead design reviews and document routine/type tests.
• Mentor team members and oversee vendor visits for timely delivery and quality.

"O. Deployment of DfX/DfSS principles on projects"
"P. Participate in design reviews, both customer and internal as required"
"Q. Review reliability predictions, and Design Failure Modes and Effects analysis (FMEA) and structural/thermal/CFD results to proactively mitigate risks early in the project"

Qualifications

B.E. / B Tech (Mechanical) or M. Tech / MS (Mechanical)

B.E./B Tech - 9 Years + experience with 5 Years+ of experience in design, development, manufacturing process and testing of MV Switchgear.

Skills

"1. Designing of MV Switchgear such as GIS, RMU and AIS for critical performance parameters such as Dielectrics, Partial Discharge, Thermal, Internal Arc, STC and endurance."

• Design of Switching mechanisms, CO/OCO functionality and Interlock designs
• Design knowledge on different types mechanisms and experience in industrialization in product
• Overall MV Switchgear manufacturing process knowledge
• Working knowledge of CAD software's such as Creo Non-Parametric, Inventor
• Knowledge on PLM software's such as Enovia
• Knowledge of MV Switchgear routine testing & type testing procedure and Practical experience in testing
• Experience of New product development Stage gate process
• Hands on experience in product development leveraging DfX methodology
• Having IEC 62271 compliant product knowledge will be considered a plus
• Experience in leading New Product development projects
