Job summary

Lawson Fuses in Halol, Gujarat, is seeking a Design Engineer (Contract Engineering) to support contract activities, create full product assemblies, BOMs, schematics, and wiring diagrams for LV/MV switchgear.

You will validate designs through prototypes, contribute to cost targets, and collaborate with configurator and Lucy CAD processes to meet customer requirements and project timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical / Mechanical with knowledge of MV Switchgear.
• 5 years of experience in contract engineering or related field.
• Understanding of schematics and wiring.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute contract activities within timelines.
• Issue drawings and BOMs using Lucy CAD system.
• Design parts/assemblies to minimize cost while maintaining quality.
• Build prototype to validate new requirements before design implementation.

Job Purpose

The main purpose of the role is to support contract engineering activities. This will include Creation of full product assembly in system, Preparation of BOM as per customer requirement, Preparation of schematics & wiring diagram, Design & development of new features, validation by prototype and testing. The job holder will bring his professional expertise and knowledge in all aspects of LV/MV Switchgear.

Key Accountabilities

1. To plan and execute the allocated activities of contracts within specified timeline. Performance Indicator: Project plan
2. Follow design processes developed by Lucy engineering team and issue drawings, bill of material using the Lucy CAD system. Performance Indicators: Number of Contract ECRs, Drawing checking tracker
3. To design part and assembly keeping cost to a minimum and without compromising the quality. Performance Indicator: Product cost target
4. Arrange to build the prototype to validate new requirements before implementing in design. Performance Indicators: Project plan, Test results
5. To prepare schematics and wiring as per customer requirement. Performance Indicator: Project plan
6. To provide the required data to configurator team for feeding to configurator. Performance Indicator: Project plan

Job Context

The position is responsible to execute contract related activities which is define through configurator once contract awarded. Working as a key member within the team, who collectively execute all the necessary activities to maintain, improve and optimize customer requirements considering the commercial and profitability aspects. Responsible for prototype trials to validate new requirements.

Qualifications, Experience, & Skills

Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge: Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical / Mechanical similar role and industry, Knowledge about MV Switchgear, RMUs, Bus ways designing, Application Engineering of LV/MV Switchgear

Minimum Experience: 5 years of experience

Job-Specific Skills: Understanding of customer needs, understanding of switchgear products & its applications, Understanding of schematics and wiring.

Behavioural Competencies: Positive attitude, Develop and maintain effective relationship with internal & external stakeholders, Good communication skills.
