Job summary

Tata Communications is seeking a Transmission Network Engineer in India to design and implement transmission network configurations, focusing on optical networks and capacity planning. You will perform configuration changes, upgrades, and provide optimization to enhance network performance.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Telecommunications plus hands-on experience with transmission gear from major vendors and strong TCP/IP/MPLS knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications or related field.
• 5 years of experience in designing and configuring transmission networks, preferably in optical networks.
• Proficiency in TCP/IP, MPLS, Ethernet, etc.
• Hands-on experience with transmission equipment from vendors such as Ciena, Nortel, Marconi.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement transmission network configurations based on project requirements and network architecture guidelines.
• Perform configuration changes, upgrades, and optimizations to enhance network performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve network issues related to transmission configurations.
• Conduct performance analysis and capacity planning to support network expansion and upgrades.
• Develop and maintain documentation related to transmission configurations, network diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
• Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in transmission technologies and network configurations.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians.

• Experience in network maintenance/ migrations/enhancements
• Expertise on various telecommunication equipment
• Good Knowledge in various products offered by service provider.

• Hands-on experience with transmission equipment from vendors such as Ciena, Nortel, Marconi, etc.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external vendors.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, etc., are a plus.
