Job summary

Tata Communications is seeking an Engineer- Global IP & Ethernet Engineering in Mumbai to join the (CNGCS) team. You will perform network planning and engineering tasks, and support L4 escalation during P1/P2 events, collaborating with network, systems, operations and project teams.

The role requires strong networking fundamentals (BGP, OSPF, MPLS VPN), familiarity with SDN/NSO tooling, and automation. BE in E&TE or IT and CCNA are preferred; multiple certifications and scripting skills are a

Qualifications

• BE in Electronics & Telecom or Information Technology.
• Knowledge of networking (routers/switches).
• Strong fundamentals in BGP/MP-BGP, OSPF, STP/RSTP/MSTP, Ethernet, IPSec VPN, DMVPN, QoS.
• Strong fundamentals in MPLS VPN services: L2/L3VPNs.
• CCNA certification.

Responsibilities

• Support and work on SDN & Network hardware platform strategies.
• Drive automation for network services using Network Service Orchestration (NSO) tools or applications.
• Document and brief system architecture and changes to the NSO & Network infra.
• Develop automated test suites and frameworks for hardware & services.
• Perform service discovery and reconciliation of Network services on NSO platform.
• Coordinate with internal and external teams for node integration/optimization/life-cycle planning.
• Understand existing and new Network Services and prepare business logic and service templates.
• Network planning: New device testing, new service testing, Device lifecycle planning.
• Work with OEM/Vendors/Internal/Operation teams to deliver end project objectives.
• Able to independently work on assigned project with minimal supervision.

Purpose of your Role

The Engineer- Global IP & Ethernet Engineering is a position within Tata Communications, based in the (CNGCS) team and reporting to the GVPN India Network Lead. He/She will be working under the guidance of a Senior and will be responsible for performing Network planning and engineering function tasks assigned by the Senior.

You will be

• Part of a high-performance team with strong technical/domain knowledge, good communication, project management and documentation skills.
• Working with Network, Systems, Operations, Project and Business teams.
• Supporting technical queries on the network and services and act as part of the L4 escalation support to the Operations team during P1/P2 network events.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and work on Software Defined Networking (SDN) & Network hardware platform strategies.
• Drive the use of and efficiencies of automation for network services using Network Service Orchestration (NSO) tools or applications.

Must have skills

• Strong organizational and customer service skills.
• BE in Electronic & Telecom or Information Technology.
• Knowledge of networking (routers/switches)
• Strong fundamental knowledge of Networking Technologies: BGP/MPBGP, OSPF, STP/RSTP/MSTP, Ethernet, IPSec VPN, DMVPN, QoS.
• Strong fundamental knowledge of MPLS VPN services: L2/L3VPNs.
• CCNA certification.

• Knowledge and proficiency in Systems: Linux, Virtualization, Cloud services, Windows, Python scripting, Ansible playbooks,
