Job summary

Nuveen is seeking a Specialist - Server, OS & Virtualization to manage server environments, support multiple OS flavors, and monitor automated systems. The role emphasizes VMware vSphere, Hyper-V and other virtualization technologies to ensure high availability and incident response.

The candidate will collaborate with a distributed team, perform BAU tasks, scripting for monitoring, and coordinate with vendors for hardware and cloud services.

Responsibilities

  • VMWare Server Administration: New VM server deployment; Add CPU/RAM/Disk/NIC to existing VMs; Create/Delete VM snapshots; Troubleshoot VM deployment issues; VMware infra upgrades; Restore servers from backup; Work with vendor for hardware issues; Support AWS EC2 and OCI instances.
  • Windows Server Administration: Monitoring system performance; Installing and configuring software; Applying patches and troubleshoot as required; Troubleshoot Windows OS issues; File share management; SCCM Client, Splunk Agent; SCCM package deployment & troubleshooting; Active Directory Object Management; Configuring Windows Cluster & troubleshoot issues; Server/Files Restore; Baseline remediation; End user issue resolution; Hardware troubleshooting with vendor.

Job description

Specialist - Server, OS & Virtualization

The role is responsible for server management and administration (either of own organization or client). They provide different levels of support for server operating systems, monitor servers in automated environment and manage incidents in case of server failures.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • They are involved in scripting for monitoring/ automating of the system administration activity on multiple servers, and also in performance analysis, capacity analysis and configuration management for servers.
  • Incumbents are also involved in the support and maintenance of Virtual servers.
  • The job requires knowledge and work experience in different flavors of OS & high availability environments (HP-UX, Linux,AIX,Sun Solaris, Tru-64 etc.), OS related applications (Ex. XCOM, SNA etc.) and Virtualization software (Vmware vSphere, Hyper V, Citrix Hypervisor, etc.).

Essential
  • Exposure /Experience in Windows Operating System Administration

Technology experience
  • Administering Windows Operating system.
  • Understanding /exposure/experience of Virtual environment (VMware).
  • Good to have working exposure to HP Hardware.
  • Demonstrated experience applying/managing user/application security.
  • Familiarity with administering Windows servers.
  • Experience analyzing and troubleshooting system performance issues/bottlenecks.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk.
  • Familiarity with scripting in PowerShell.
  • Familiarity of backup and recovery client/procedures.
  • Familiarity with Networking (DNS, routing, firewalls, etc.).
  • Familiarity with system services (IIS, Group Policy, Remote Desktop Services, and Virtualization Technologies).
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
