Nuveen seeks a skilled Unix/Linux System Administrator to manage day-to-day Linux/Unix servers across development, staging, and production environments. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure reliability, performance, and security while contributing to infrastructure improvements.
You will implement patching, monitoring, and automation practices, participate in on-call rotations, and help maintain runbooks and standard operating procedures for a resilient IT landscape.
The role is responsible for server management and administration (either of own organization or client). They provide different levels of support for server operating systems, monitor servers in automated environment and manage incidents in case of server failures.
They are involved in scripting for monitoring/ automating of the system administration activity on multiple servers, and also in performance analysis, capacity analysis and configuration management for servers. Incumbents are also involved in the support and maintenance of Virtual servers. The job requires knowledge and work experience in different flavors of OS & high availability environments (HP-UX, Linux,AIX,Sun Solaris, Tru-64 etc.), OS related applications (Ex. XCOM, SNA etc.) and Virtualization software (Vmware vSphere, Hyper V, Citrix Hypervisor, etc.).

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Unix/Linux System Administrator to join our infrastructure team. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day administration, maintenance, and support of Linux/Unix-based systems across development, staging, and production environments. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure system reliability, performance, and security while contributing to ongoing infrastructure improvement initiatives.
As a Unix/Linux System Administrator, you will manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux/Unix servers and related infrastructure components. You will monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and proactively identify opportunities to improve stability and efficiency across the environment. You will be responsible for performing routine system patching, upgrades, and vulnerability remediation in alignment with the organization's security policies. Managing user accounts, access controls, and file permissions will also be a core part of your daily responsibilities. You will participate in backup and disaster recovery operations, ensuring data integrity and the ability to restore systems within defined recovery time objectives. Collaboration with the network, security, and application teams to resolve complex infrastructure issues will be a regular expectation of this role. You will contribute to the development and maintenance of operational documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures to support knowledge sharing and team continuity. Additionally, you will support on-call rotations and respond to incident escalations in a timely and professional manner.
