Job summary

Jacobs in India is seeking a senior Subject Matter Expert in Peptide with extensive design engineering experience. You will lead advanced process design, perform heat/mass balance calculations and review vendor documentation to ensure safety and compliance.

Role requires leadership in HAZOP/PHA, containment studies, and GMP reviews across peptide plants, with familiarity in US FDA, MHRA, WHO and TGA regulatory expectations.

Qualifications

• BE Chemical with 15–25 years in design engineering for Lifesciences projects.
• Experience in design consulting or equivalent with peptide projects.
• Strong capability in process engineering calculations and vendor review.
• Experience leading HAZOP/PHA and contributing to GMP assessments.

Responsibilities

• Lead process engineering calculations: heat/mass balance, utility sizing, hydraulics.
• Review vendor documents and ensure design/construction safety & consistency.
• Lead HAZOP/PHA reviews and containment studies for peptide plants.
• Provide GMP guidance and ensure regulatory alignment (USFDA/MHRA/WHO/TGA).

Your impact

As a Subject Matter Expert in Peptide , candidate should possess following as a minimum

• Strong Technical Skills in carrying out basic and detailed engineering work. The candidate should be experienced in handling Peptide projects.
• Should be able to prepare Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
• Should have strong knowledge on layout designing of Peptide plants
• Should be able to independently carry out Capacity Mapping of Peptide Plants
• The candidate should possess sound knowledge on equipment selection criteria for Solid Phase Peptide Synthesizer, Lyophilizer, PREP HPLC, DAC Column, Rotary evaporator etc.
• Should have knowledge on latest ISPE Guidelines
• Should be aware of regulatory requirements of USFDA, MHRA, WHO, TGA etc.

• Must have experience of design consulting organization either working currently or in the past in Lifesciences Projects
• Experience in Major Peptide projects
  • Performing All process engineering calculations like heat & mass balance, Utility sizing (Clean & Black), Thermal rating of heat exchangers and hydraulics, line sizing, Pump Hydraulics
  • Vendor Document Review
  • Reviewing all aspects of design and construction for consistency and safety, including leading HAZOP and PHA Reviews
  • Possess thorough knowledge on containment techniques and be able to perform Containment Studies.
  • Provide guidance in GMP reviews.
