Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Subject Matter Expert – Process – Peptide to lead advanced process engineering for peptide projects. The role requires creating PFDs and P&IDs, designing peptide plant layouts, and mapping plant capacity to boost throughput and safety.

Responsibilities include reviewing vendor documents, leading HAZOP/PHA reviews, and applying ISPE guidelines with awareness of USFDA, MHRA, WHO, TGA regulatory expectations.

Qualifications

• Perform heat and mass balance calculations for process designs.
• Size utilities, assess thermal ratings of heat exchangers and hydraulics.
• Review vendor documents for compliance and quality.
• Lead HAZOP and PHA reviews for safety and design integrity.
• Containment techniques knowledge and containment studies execution.
• Provide GMP reviews guidance and regulatory readiness.

Responsibilities

• Carry out basic and detailed engineering work for peptide projects.
• Prepare PFDs and P&IDs for peptide process systems.
• Design peptide plant layouts with attention to flow and safety.
• Independently map capacity of peptide plants and optimize throughput.
• Select equipment: Solid Phase Peptide Synthesizer, Lyophilizer, PREP HPLC, DAC Column, Rotary evaporator.
• Ensure compliance with ISPE guidelines and regulatory requirements.

Summary

• Strong technical skills in carrying out basic and detailed engineering work.
• Experience in handling peptide projects.
• Ability to prepare Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Strong knowledge of layout design of peptide plants.
• Ability to independently carry out capacity mapping of peptide plants.
• Sound knowledge of equipment selection criteria for Solid Phase Peptide Synthesizer, Lyophilizer, PREP HPLC, DAC Column, Rotary evaporator, etc.
• Knowledge of latest ISPE Guidelines.
• Awareness of regulatory requirements of USFDA, MHRA, WHO, TGA, etc.

Technical and specialty skills

• Performing all process engineering calculations such as heat & mass balance, utility sizing (clean & black), thermal rating of heat exchangers and hydraulics, line sizing, pump hydraulics.
• Vendor document review.
• Reviewing all aspects of design and construction for consistency and safety, including leading HAZOP and PHA reviews.
• Possess thorough knowledge on containment techniques and be able to perform containment studies.
