Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a senior Piping Design Manager to lead piping design activities for life sciences projects across pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotech facilities, sterile suites, and related systems. The role focuses on delivering compliant, high‑quality designs and guiding cross‑disciplinary teams.

You will act as the primary contact for piping design with clients and partners, participate in HAZOPs and constructability studies, and provide on-site support during construction, commissioning

Qualifications

• 20+ years of piping design experience in pharma/life sciences.
• BE/BTech in Chemical or Mechanical engineering.
• Experience with GMP and regulatory standards; cross-discipline coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage piping design activities for life sciences projects (pharma manufacturing, biotech facilities, sterile suites, R&D labs, utility systems, cleanrooms).
• Ensure deliverables meet project requirements, regulatory standards, GMP, and client expectations; drive innovation and quality.
• Act as primary piping design contact with clients, PMCs, and EPC/EPCM partners; coordinate with design workshops and risk assessments.
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and start-up.
• Participate in design workshops, HAZOPs, risk assessments, and constructability studies.

Your impact Specialist- Piping support the Discipline Manager on achieving Jacob’s project and engineering process and procedure. This dynamic position provides leadership, champions inclusion and diversity, drives global delivery, supports a culture of innovation applies a disciplined deployment and ensures Management responsibilities including training and development. Manages professional employees and/or supervisors or manages multi-discipline teams of support employees accounting for a large/significant span of control. Has accountability for the performance and results of a team within own area of specialty. Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges and problem solving guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance from senior manager. Provides technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers. Drives design consistency across projects by standardizing templates, specifications, and workflows. Promotes continuous improvement in design efficiency, digital tools, and engineering practices.

• The Piping Design Manager will lead and manage piping design activities for life sciences projects—including pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, biotechnology plants, sterile/aseptic production suites, R&D laboratories, utility systems, and cleanroom environments. This role ensures that all piping design deliverables meet project requirements, regulatory standards, GMP compliance, and client expectations while driving innovation, efficiency, and quality. Ensure design deliverables meet quality and safety standards, regulatory expectations, and project specifications
• With site experience and can provide solutions to complex issues at site.
• Act as the primary point of contact for piping design matters with clients, PMCs, and EPC/EPCM partners.
• Participate in design workshops, HAZOPs, risk assessments, and constructability studies.
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and start‑up.

Here's what you'll need

• 20+ Years of Experience and Degree in full time BE/Btech - Chemical/Mechanical
• Strong experience on design of pharmaceutical/Life Science /Biotech facility / Speciality Chemical in terms of Piping design and sound knowledge of pharmaceutical / Life Science /Biotech facility inter discipline requirements.
• Location- Navi Mumbai, Gurgaon, Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Chennai (Candidate will be considered for Pharma & Lifescience only)
