Job summary

Hirschvogel Components in India is seeking a Lead Spare Parts Manager to ensure uninterrupted availability of spare parts, consumables and maintenance materials across Forging, Machining and Facility equipment. You will manage end-to-end inventory, coordinate procurement, and optimize stock levels to support plant reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or SCM related field.
• 8–10 years as a Spare Parts Manager or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end spare parts inventory for multiple shop areas.
• Ensure availability of critical spare parts for production.
• Develop inventory strategy based on equipment criticality.
• Classify spares into Critical, Insurance, Operational, Consumables.
• Establish Min-Max stock levels and Reorder Points.
• Monitor stock levels and prevent stock-outs.
• Coordinate with Maintenance, Purchase, Production, Finance.
• Maintain SAP master data for spares.
• Prepare annual spare parts budget and monitor spending.
• Manage inventory valuation and turnover.

1. Purpose of the Role: To ensure uninterrupted availability of spare parts, consumables, and maintenance materials for Forging, Machining, and Facility equipment by developing and managing an efficient maintenance inventory system. Responsible for spare parts planning, inventory optimization, procurement coordination, vendor management, warehouse control, and SAP inventory management to support plant reliability and operational excellence.

2. Responsibilities:

a. Function Specific

• Manage end-to-end spare parts inventory for Forging, Machining, Utilities, and Facility equipment.
• Ensure availability of critical spare parts for production-critical machines and utilities.
• Develop and maintain spare parts inventory strategy based on equipment criticality and business risk.
• Classify spares into Critical, Insurance, Operational, and Consumable categories.
• Establish Min-Max stock levels and Reorder Point systems for all maintenance inventories.
• Monitor inventory levels and prevent stock-outs of critical items.
• Coordinate with Maintenance, Purchase, Production, and Finance departments for inventory planning.
• Maintain accurate spare part master data in SAP.
• Prepare annual spare parts budget and monitor inventory spending.
• Manage inventory valuation, stock turnover, and inventory optimization initiatives.
• Conduct critical spare part reviews with maintenance teams.
• Develop spare part standardization and interchangeability programs.
• Coordinate procurement of local and imported spare parts.
• Follow-up with OEMs and suppliers for timely delivery of critical items.
• Evaluate and develop alternate suppliers wherever possible.
• Monitor spare part consumption trends and forecast future requirements.
• Support preventive maintenance shutdowns through spare parts readiness.
• Conduct periodic stock verification and inventory audits.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and inventory management procedures.
• Maintain spare part documentation, catalogues, drawings, technical specifications, and equipment BOMs.
• Support machine reliability programs through effective spare parts availability.
• Lead inventory reduction and cost optimization projects without affecting plant reliability.

e. Energy Management System Requirement

• Support efficient inventory planning for energy-related equipment.
• Ensure availability of spare parts required for energy-efficient operation of utilities and production equipment.
• Support ISO 50001 requirements through equipment reliability management.
• Promote sustainable procurement and inventory practices.

3. Authorities:

• Define stock levels and inventory policies for maintenance spares.
• Recommend procurement of critical and strategic spare parts.
• Coordinate emergency purchases during breakdown situations.
• Approve spare part specifications and inventory classifications.
• Lead inventory audits and corrective actions.
• Escalate critical shortages impacting production or utilities.
• Recommend obsolete inventory disposal and inventory optimization actions.

4. Requirements of profile:

a. Education / Qualification:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Supply Chain Management.
• Diploma holders with strong maintenance inventory experience may also be considered.
• Certification in Supply Chain Management, Inventory Management, SAP MM, SAP PM, or Warehouse Management preferred.
