Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

• Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities.


• Attend equipment breakdowns and ensure minimum downtime of production equipment.


• Maintain and troubleshoot reactors, centrifuges, dryers, agitators, pumps, compressors, vacuum systems, heat exchangers, and other process equipment.


• Handle maintenance of utility systems such as chillers, cooling towers, boilers, HVAC, nitrogen systems, compressed air, chilled water, DM/RO/Purified Water systems, etc.


• Coordinate with Production, QA, QC, EHS, and Project teams for maintenance activities.


• Prepare and maintain preventive maintenance schedules, checklists, work orders, and equipment history records.


• Ensure proper execution and documentation of breakdown maintenance and root cause analysis (RCA).


• Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and energy efficiency.


• Supervise contractors and maintenance technicians during maintenance and project activities.


• Ensure availability and control of critical spare parts and consumables.


• Follow LOTO, work permit, safety, and EHS procedures during maintenance activities.


• Support CAPA, change control, deviation, and investigation activities related to engineering and maintenance.


• Ensure maintenance activities comply with GMP, SOPs, cGMP, and regulatory requirements.


• Participate in qualification and validation activities such as IQ/OQ/PQ, where applicable.


• Support installation, commissioning, and qualification of new equipment and utility systems.


• Maintain engineering documentation including P&IDs, equipment manuals, drawings, maintenance records, and SOPs.


• Conduct root cause analysis for recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions.


• Maintain proper records in CMMS / SAP / computerized maintenance systems, if applicable.


• Coordinate with external vendors for AMC, service, calibration, and specialized maintenance work.


• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports and KPIs.

Key Skills

• Strong knowledge of mechanical and utility equipment maintenance.


• Knowledge of pumps, valves, piping, agitators, reactors, gearboxes, compressors, and rotating equipment.


• Basic understanding of electrical and instrumentation systems.


• Knowledge of GMP, cGMP, EHS, LOTO, and permit-to-work systems.


• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.


• Good vendor and contractor management skills.


• Knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, SAP/CMMS is desirable.

Qualification & Experience

• Qualification: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.


• Experience: Typically, 2-6 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical, API, chemical, or process industries.
