Job summary

PRI INDIA IT SERVICES PRIVATE LIMITED is seeking a Software QA Engineer in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The role involves designing and executing manual and automated tests for web apps and REST APIs, with strong emphasis on API testing, UI checks, and regression cycles.

The candidate should have 2+ years in software testing, hands-on API testing experience, and familiarity with Postman/SoapUI. A Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering is required. This is a full-time on-site position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or Equivalent.
• 2+ years of industry experience in software testing with API and functional testing.
• Hands-on experience in manual testing, regression and UAT.
• Experience testing REST APIs using Postman or SoapUI and validating payloads "headers" and auth.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test cases for web apps and REST APIs.
• Perform functional, regression, sanity, smoke, and end-to-end testing.
• Develop automated test scripts using Java, Selenium WebDriver, TestNG/JUnit, Rest Assured.
• Perform API testing with Postman, SoapUI, Rest Assured including validation and error handling.
• Create and run test plans, test data, and defect tracking with Azure DevOps, JIRA, or ALM.
• Log, track, verify, and report defects; support developers for timely resolution.
• Analyze results, prepare test summaries, and communicate status and quality metrics.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or Equivalent.
• 2+ years of industry experience in software testing, with strong hands‑on experience in API testing and functional testing.
• Strong experience in manual testing activities, including requirement analysis, test case design, test execution, defect reporting, regression testing, and UAT support.
• Hands‑on experience testing REST APIs using Postman, SoapUI, or similar tools, including validation of payloads, headers, authentication, response codes, and business rules.
• Proven automation/scripting experience using Java with Rest Assured, Selenium WebDriver, TestNG, or JUnit.
• Good understanding of STLC, SDLC, defect life cycle, Agile testing practices, and test documentation.
• Experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as Azure DevOps, JIRA, or ALM.
