Job summary

H&M Group is seeking a Software Engineer to own the full software lifecycle—from design to release. You will build high-performance, event-driven solutions for global retail and e-commerce platforms, using Azure, Cosmos DB, Kafka, and microservices.

You’ll work with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to deliver reliable, scalable systems. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of software development experience and strong hands-on skills with Azure Cosmos DB, Kafka, Azure Functions,

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of professional software development experience.
• Hands-on with Azure Cosmos DB and event-driven systems.
• Experience with Apache Kafka and real-time data streaming.
• Proficient in CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native apps.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain cloud-native apps on Azure.
• Build scalable data solutions with Cosmos DB / MongoDB.
• Create Kafka producers/consumers for real-time data streams.
• Develop RESTful APIs and microservices with Java/Spring or .NET.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, QA, and DevOps teams.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize production systems.
• Participate in code reviews and follow best practices.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a Software Engineer, you are responsible for the entire software life cycle – design, development, test, release, maintenance and translates business needs into working software. The ideal candidate will contribute to building high-performance, event-driven solutions that support H&M's global retail and e-commerce platforms.

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

At H&M group, you will be part of the Order Management Team. We ensure stable, reliable and scalable fit for purpose platforms. Provide best-in-class engineering services that improves our speed to market, flexibility and scalability by providing frictionless technology with self-service capabilities and empowering product teams for delivery leveraging a foundational and standardized set of core platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain cloud-native applications using Azure technologies.
• Develop scalable and highly available data solutions using Azure Cosmos DB / Mongo DB.
• Build Kafka producers and consumers for real-time data streaming.
• Optimize Cosmos DB performance through effective partitioning, indexing, and query optimization.
• Develop RESTful APIs and microservices using Java, Spring Boot, or .NET.
• Integrate distributed applications using Kafka messaging patterns.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize production systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams including Product Owners, QA, and DevOps engineers.
• Participate in code reviews and follow engineering best practices.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Experience with logging, monitoring, and troubleshooting in production environments.
• Ability to work independently and and take ownership with team-oriented approach.
• Experience working in Agile / Scrum teams with good communication skills.
• Experience in Retail, E-commerce, or Order Management Systems (OMS).

WHO YOU ARE

• 3-5 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Cosmos DB.
• Strong experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven systems.
• Practical experience designing and implementing event-driven architectures.
• Experience developing and deploying applications using Azure Functions and/or Kubernetes.
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
• Experience with Git and Azure DevOps for source control, collaboration, and DevOps workflows.
