Job summary

H&M is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (iOS) in the Design System team to build reusable components and tooling that power iOS products across the organization. You will work at the intersection of Design, Engineering and Product, delivering scalable foundations for consistent, accessible experiences.

As a senior engineer, you will drive architecture, contribute to tokens, mentor engineers and ensure high quality through testing and performance optimization.

Qualifications

• 6–10 years of strong Swift, SwiftUI and UIKit experience
• Experience building or contributing to an iOS Design System, component library or reusable platform
• Experience translating Figma designs into robust iOS components and tokens
• Strong knowledge of accessibility and testing in iOS environments
• Familiarity with CI/CD and automated quality checks

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and evolution of reusable iOS components using Swift, SwiftUI and UIKit where appropriate
• Design scalable component APIs supporting variants, states, themes, composition and accessibility
• Translate Figma/design specifications into production-ready components in close collaboration with designers
• Contribute to design tokens and foundations such as colour, typography, spacing and themes
• Establish architecture, coding standards and engineering best practices for the iOS Design System
• Build accessibility, performance, quality and maintainability into components by default
• Work with product teams to support adoption and turn recurring needs into reusable solutions
• Create clear documentation, examples and guidance for easy component adoption
• Maintain automated unit, UI and visual regression tests
• Own component evolution including versioning and migration strategies
• Lead technical discussions, conduct code reviews and mentor engineers across the iOS community
• Explore improvements to design-to-code workflows and developer experience

As a Senior Software Engineer (iOS) in the Design System team, you will build and evolve the foundations that enable iOS teams across H&M to deliver consistent, accessible and high-quality digital experiences. You will work at the intersection of Design, Engineering and Product, creating reusable components, APIs, patterns and tooling that can be adopted across multiple products.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and evolution of reusable iOS components using Swift, SwiftUI and UIKit where appropriate.
• Design scalable component APIs supporting variants, states, themes, composition and accessibility.

• Lead technical discussions, conduct code reviews and mentor engineers across the iOS community.

WHO YOU ARE

We are looking for people with...

• Swift & iOS: 6-10 years ofstrong Swift, SwiftUI and UIKit experience; modern iOS SDK knowledge; Swift Concurrency; modular architecture and Swift Package Manager.
• Design System Engineering: Experience building or contributing to an iOS Design System, component library or reusable platform; strong component/API design and understanding of variants, states, themes and composition.
• Design & Design-to-Code: Experience collaborating with designers and translating Figma specifications into robust iOS components; understanding of design tokens and design-system foundations.
• Accessibility: Strong understanding of iOS accessibility, including VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, accessibility labels/traits and inclusive component behaviour.
• Testing & Quality: Strong unit/UI testing experience; snapshot or visual regression testing is valuable; understanding of CI/CD and automated quality checks.
• Performance: Understanding of rendering, memory management and concurrency; ability to use Instruments and debugging tools to diagnose complex issues.
• Architecture & Leadership: Ability to make architectural decisions, communicate trade-offs, conduct code reviews, mentor engineers and influence across teams.
• Developer Experience: Focus on discoverability, documentation, examples and ease of adoption for engineers consuming shared libraries.

Nice to Have

• Experience with enterprise-scale Design Systems or shared component libraries.
• Experience with Figma Variables, Code Connect, design-token pipelines or design-to-code tooling.
• Experience with visual regression testing and developer documentation platforms.
• Experience aligning iOS components with Web/Android Design Systems.
• Experience with developer tooling, automation, code generation or AI-assisted development workflows.
