Job summary

BHIVE is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Bengaluru to design and sustain scalable backend systems using Python. The role emphasizes FastAPI/Flask, REST APIs, and database integration with PostgreSQL or Redis.

You will collaborate with product and frontend teams, ensure code quality, and leverage AI tools to speed up development. The candidate should have 3+ years of backend experience, solid Python expertise, and strong problem‑solving skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend development using Python with FastAPI or Flask.
• Strong knowledge of Python and its backend frameworks (FastAPI, Flask).
• Understanding of asynchronous programming, REST APIs, and web services.
• Knowledge of rate limiting, pagination, and REST API authentication mechanisms.
• Experience integrating with third‑party tools (HubSpot, Zoho Books, etc.).
• Comfort with AI-assisted development tools (Claude, Copilot, Cursor).
• Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Redis.
• Proficiency with Git and version control systems.
• Experience with testing frameworks such as PyTest or Unittest.
• Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
• Strong analytical and debugging skills.

Role Overview:We are looking for a Software Development Engineer with a minimum of 3 years of experience in developing and maintaining backend systems using Python. The ideal candidate should have expertise in FastAPI or Flask and be capable of building scalable, high-performance applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaboration:Work closely with frontend developers and product managers to develop new features.
• Code Quality:Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented Python code following best practices.
• Optimization:Improve system performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Troubleshooting:Identify and resolve backend issues efficiently.
• Learning & Growth:Participate in code reviews and collaborate with senior developers for continuous improvement.
• Innovation:Stay updated with emerging technologies and recommend enhancements.
• AI-Augmented Development:Use AI coding assistants (Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar) to accelerate development, generate boilerplate, write tests, and speed up debugging — while applying sound engineering judgment to review, refine, and own every line that ships.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Experience:Minimum 3 years of backend development using Python with FastAPI or Flask.
• Strong knowledge of Python and its backend frameworks (FastAPI, Flask).
• Understanding of asynchronous programming, REST APIs, and web services.
• Knowledge of rate limiting, pagination, and different REST API authentication mechanisms is a must.
• Experience integrating with third-party tools such as HubSpot, Zoho Books, or similar platforms, but not limited to these.
• AI-Assisted Development:Comfortable working with AI-assisted coding tools (Claude, Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent) as part of the modern development workflow — for code generation, refactoring, documentation, and test writing.
• Experience with databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Redis.
• Proficiency with Git and version control systems.
• Experience with testing frameworks such as PyTest or Unittest.
• Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
• Problem-Solving:Strong analytical and debugging skills.

Preferred:

• Containerization:Experience with Docker and familiarity with Kubernetes.
• Microservices & Messaging:Knowledge of microservices architecture and event-driven systems. Familiarity with tools like RabbitMQ or Kafka is good to have but not mandatory.
• Agile Methodologies:Experience working in Agile/Scrum frameworks..

Collaboration and communication: Proactive monitoring and collaboration with team members and internal departments are necessary to guarantee seamless operations at the Centre.
