Job description

Job Title: Senior Associate, SAM Transition

Experience: 8-12 years

About the Company

Our organization is building disciplined, technology‑led operating practices that help enterprises manage software estates with greater control, transparency, and commercial efficiency. The team works across technology, procurement, finance, vendors, and legal stakeholders to improve governance and reduce avoidable software risk. This role sits within a practical, cross‑functional environment where accurate data, strong controls, and timely decisions directly influence licensing outcomes and business continuity. We value ownership, structured execution, clear communication, and the ability to convert complex contractual and technology information into actionable decisions. The position offers the opportunity to shape SAM transition practices, strengthen enterprise controls, and improve how software assets are managed through platforms, processes, and stakeholder governance.

About the Role

Own the transition and operational control of Software Asset Management activities across enterprise technology environments. The role connects software inventory, licensing data, compliance analysis, vendor governance, contract interpretation, and operational platforms to improve decision quality and reduce commercial and audit risk. You will work with technology, procurement, finance, legal, infrastructure, security, and external vendors to establish reliable processes and resolve complex licensing matters. Success means creating transparent software positions, improving control effectiveness, supporting contract decisions, and enabling stakeholders to act before risks become incidents or financial exposures. The role requires hands‑on understanding of Microsoft technologies and SAM platforms, combined with strong commercial judgement and disciplined stakeholder management. It is suited to an experienced professional who can lead transition work, challenge incomplete information, and build repeatable operating mechanisms across Gurgaon and Bangalore.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own SAM transition plans through defined milestones, governance, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder actions, ensuring new processes move into stable operations without loss of control or service continuity.
  • Build and maintain reliable software entitlement, inventory, usage, and contract data through ServiceNow, SAM Pro, SCCM, Intune, and Active Directory, improving the accuracy of licensing and compliance decisions.
  • Lead software license compliance assessments by reconciling installations, users, entitlements, contracts, and usage evidence, identifying exposure early and driving remediation with accountable technology owners.
  • Manage vendor interactions and commercial governance by coordinating renewals, audits, true‑ups, optimization opportunities, and escalations, protecting the organization from avoidable cost and contractual risk.
  • Review software contracts and licensing terms with procurement and legal teams, translating obligations, restrictions, metrics, and rights into operational controls and practical stakeholder actions.
  • Establish reporting and control cadences for SAM performance, exceptions, remediation, savings, compliance posture, and transition progress, giving senior stakeholders clear evidence for timely decisions.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional resolution across infrastructure, endpoint, identity, procurement, finance, legal, and service management teams, ensuring issues close with documented ownership and measurable outcomes.
  • Strong Software Asset Management expertise covering licensing, entitlement reconciliation, compliance, optimization, vendor governance, audit response, and transition or transformation programs across enterprise environments.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of Microsoft Intune, SCCM, Active Directory, ServiceNow, and SAM Pro, with the ability to validate data flows, identify control gaps, and improve operational reporting.
  • Strong contract review, commercial analysis, legal coordination, stakeholder management, written communication, and structured problem‑solving skills for complex software licensing decisions.
Additional Plus
  • Experience managing Microsoft licensing models, enterprise agreements, software audits, renewals, true‑ups, and optimization initiatives across large or geographically distributed organizations.
  • Exposure to ITIL, service management controls, CMDB governance, procurement processes, finance partnering, or technology risk and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience leading SAM transitions, operating‑model implementations, platform migrations, process standardization, or continuous‑improvement programs with measurable control or cost outcomes.
What You'll Bring

You bring 8–12 years of experience in Software Asset Management, IT asset management, licensing operations, technology compliance, vendor management, or a closely related enterprise technology function. You are comfortable owning ambiguous transition work while creating the structure needed for dependable execution. You can interpret licensing terms, test evidence, challenge data quality, and explain commercial or compliance implications in language that technology, procurement, finance, and legal stakeholders can act on. Your experience includes working with enterprise endpoint and identity environments, including Intune, SCCM, Active Directory, ServiceNow, and SAM Pro or comparable platforms. You demonstrate strong judgement when balancing compliance, cost, business need, and contractual obligations. You communicate clearly, document decisions, escalated material risks early, and follow actions through to closure. You are also able to build trust with vendors and internal teams while maintaining control discipline. A successful candidate combines technical understanding, commercial awareness, analytical rigour, and ownership of measurable outcomes rather than only task completion.

Why Join Us
  • Own a high‑impact SAM transition agenda where better data, controls, and governance directly influence software risk, commercial efficiency, and enterprise decision‑making.
  • Work across technology, procurement, finance, legal, service management, and strategic vendors, gaining broad exposure to how large organizations govern software investments.
  • Shape repeatable SAM practices, reporting mechanisms, and operational controls while partnering with senior stakeholders on complex licensing and compliance priorities.
  • Build a visible career path at the intersection of enterprise technology, commercial governance, risk management, and digital operating‑model improvement.
What We Offer
  • Receive competitive compensation with performance‑linked incentives that recognize individual contribution and business outcomes.
  • Participate in an annual performance cycle running from 1 November through 31 October, with the applicable incentive payout scheduled in November.
  • Medical insurance and gratuity are provided over and above the compensation structure.
  • Hybrid working opportunity based in Gurgaon or Bangalore, with an experienced technology team and cross‑functional enterprise exposure.
