Job summary

Symboticware Ai (SymX.Ai) seeks a Field Installation Engineer to install and commission SymBot edge gateways, sensors, and related hardware on haul trucks and fleet equipment in Gurgaon. You will design harnesses, validate installations, and train customer maintenance teams to ensure reliable field operation.

Ideal candidates have 4–10 years of hands-on experience with heavy mining equipment, strong electronics skills, and familiarity with J1939 CAN and OEM tools.

Qualifications

Job description

Role & responsibilities

You are the person who puts our hardware on a 100-tonne haul truck and makes it work. Mechanical hands, electronics head. You understand what a CAT 793 or a Komatsu 830E actually does on a bench and on a ramp, and you can also read a J1939 trace and tell us why a sensor is lying. In Gurgaon you build harnesses, bench-test SymBot units against real ECUs and prove installation kits. At site you install, calibrate and commission on live fleets under production pressure.

What you will do

• Install SymBot edge gateways, tyre pressure and temperature sensors, payload and vibration instrumentation, cameras and antennas on haul trucks, loaders, LHDs, drills and support fleet.
• Design, build and test wiring harnesses, connector assemblies, power taps and mounting brackets for OEM equipment, then document the installation kit so a site crew can repeat it.
• Interface with machine electrical and control systems: J1939 CAN, J1708, Modbus, OEM data ports. Read broadcast data, validate DTC and parameter mapping, and identify where a machine is not broadcasting what the spec claims.
• Diagnose faults across the mechanical and electronic boundary. Powertrain, hydraulics, brakes, suspension and tyres on the mechanical side, and sensors, harnesses, grounding and power quality on the electronic side.
• Run bench validation in Gurgaon: environmental, vibration, ingress and power cycling checks on hardware before it ships to a customer.
• Support field commissioning of X.Machines, X.Tires and X.Fleet, verifying that data landing in the platform matches what the machine is actually doing.
• Train customer maintenance crews on install, inspection and first-line fault finding, and write the field service instructions they will use.
• Feed failure and installation learnings back to the SymX product and firmware teams so the next revision installs faster.

What we are looking for

• 4 to 10 years maintaining heavy mining or earthmoving equipment, with hands-on haul truck experience. Caterpillar, Komatsu, Liebherr, Hitachi, BEML, Epiroc or Sandvik fleets.
• Genuine electronics capability. Multimeter, oscilloscope, CAN analyser, soldering, harness continuity testing and the ability to read a wiring schematic without help.
• Working knowledge of J1939 CAN or equivalent machine data buses, and of OEM diagnostic tools such as Cat ET, Komatsu KOMTRAX or Epiroc Rig Control.
• Diploma or ITI in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automobile or Electronics, or a B.Tech with genuine hands-on time. Time on tools counts more than the certificate here.
• Willing to work at mine sites in India and overseas, on shift and underground, with the associated medicals and inductions. Valid passport required.
• Valid driving licence. HEMM operating exposure is a plus.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Prior work installing telematics, TPMS, payload systems, collision avoidance or fatigue monitoring on mining fleets.
• Familiarity with MineStar, Modular DISPATCH, Wenco or Hexagon fleet systems.
• Exposure to reliability practice: failure modes, condition monitoring, ISO 14224 fault coding.
