JOB DESCRIPTION: SITE SUPERVISOR (RENOVATION & UPGRADE PROJECT)

Property: Alexander Reserve, Matheran

Position Type: Full-Time (Project-Based Contract with potential for permanent estate retention)

1. Purpose of the Role

Alexander Reserve is undergoing a milestone transformation into an ultra-luxury private sanctuary. We are seeking a highly disciplined, logistically savvy Site Supervisor to oversee the final phases of our heritage renovation.

Building in Matheran presents unique challenges due to its eco-sensitive, vehicle-free environment and intense monsoon seasons. The ideal candidate will take absolute ownership of the site, driving daily labor output, managing complex material transport, and ensuring that architectural structures—such as our Glass House Conservatory and commercial kitchen spaces—are executed flawlessly and strictly on schedule.

2. Key Responsibilities

Site Execution & Quality Control:

• Blueprint Translation: Supervise the daily execution of civil, structural, and interior finishing works, ensuring adherence to architectural blueprints and design standards.
• Specialized Installations: Oversee installations, including structural bases for FRP pool panels or RCC curing, commercial kitchen equipment placement, and glass/steel structural integrations.
• Finish & Detail Focus: Enforce strict quality control on masonry, waterproofing, tiling, and carpentry. Ensure zero tolerance for subpar finishes.

Logistics & Material Management (Matheran-Specific):

• Car-Free Supply Chain: Strategically coordinate the transport of heavy construction materials (cement, steel, FRP panels, equipment) from Dasturi Point to the site using local transport (hand-carts/horses) without causing delays.
• Inventory Control: Conduct daily audits of construction materials. Predict shortages well in advance to prevent any halt in work due to transit lag times.
• Monsoon Preparedness: Implement aggressive weather-proofing and structural protection protocols to secure the site, materials, and labor camps against heavy pre-monsoon and monsoon downpours.

Labor & Timeline Management:

• Daily Output Tracking: Manage sub-contractors, masons, plumbers, electricians, and daily wage laborers. Set clear daily targets and ensure maximum productivity.
• Vendor Coordination: Act as the on-site point of contact for external vendors and installation teams, ensuring they have the cleared space and utilities required to work immediately upon arrival.
• Safety & Eco-Compliance: Enforce strict on-site safety protocols and zero-littering rules to respect Matheran’s protected eco-sensitive forest guidelines. Ensure noise and dust are minimized.

3. Candidate Profile & Requirements

• Educational Background: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
• Experience: 2–4 years of on-site supervisory experience, with exposure to civil works, interior finishing, residential builds, or hospitality projects.
• Terrain Expertise: Previous experience executing construction projects in Matheran, Mahabaleshwar, or similar remote, hill-station environments is highly advantageous.
• Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of waterproofing, RCC curing timelines, basic structural assembly, and interior finishings.
• Leadership & Demeanour: A firm, active management style to handle diverse labor teams effectively and keep the site moving.
• Language Skills: Fluency in Marathi and Hindi to effectively communicate with local labor and transport unions, alongside functional English for management reporting.
