Job summary

ABB in Nashik, India, is seeking a Field Service Engineer to execute on-site service tasks for MV switchgear and related equipment. You will plan, inspect, and repair with a first-time-right approach while maintaining safety and ABB process standards.

The role requires 3–5 years in MV servicing, hands-on erection/testing/commissioning of MV devices, and strong English communication skills. On-site operations in Nashik form the core of this position.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Electrical engineering (full-time).
• 3–5 years of experience in servicing, troubleshooting, and after-sales customer support for MV products (11 kV-33 kV).
• Hands-on experience in erection, testing, and commissioning of MV switchgear, RMUs, circuit breakers, and protection relays.
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Execute service work with low to medium complexity per work instructions and ABB standards.
• Plan and execute work on a first-time-right approach with customers on-site.
• Identify opportunities to improve customer operations and eliminate pain points during field visits.
• Troubleshoot equipment/process failures and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute service work with low to medium complexity as per work instructions and in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards, and safety guidelines. Each day, you will plan and execute work on a first-time right approach with customers. You will also showcase your expertise by displaying a clear understanding of sense of urgency and care in your own area of responsibility.

This role is contributing to the Electrification business in Distribution Solution division at Nashik, India.

• Working with the customer (while on-site) to identify opportunities to improve the customer's operations and eliminate pain points.
• Performing field service tasks, identifying technical issues, and performing analysis through remote or on-site activity in service categories and products.
• Preparing material lists needed for service activity and ensuring that all materials, parts, and equipment are available and of appropriate quality for service activities.
• Troubleshooting equipment/process failures, requesting proactive corrective actions, and making recommendations to avoid such issues in the future.

Qualifications for the role

• Degree or Diploma in Electrical engineering (should be full-time)
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in servicing, troubleshooting, and after-sales customer support for MV products (11 kV-33 kV).
• Hands-on experience in erection, testing, and commissioning of MV switchgear, RMUs, circuit breakers, and protection relays.
• Experience in site issue management, fault diagnosis, and resolution of customer technical issues.
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
