Working Hours: 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM (On-site)
Job Summary
M/s. Somayaji Estates (P) Ltd. is seeking an experienced, proactive, and result-oriented Senior Site Engineer to lead and oversee our building construction projects in Mangalore. The ideal candidate will be responsible for day-to-day site supervision, managing site labor and sub-contractors, ensuring quality standards and timely material procurement, and acting as a bridge between the site team, vendors, clients, and Head Office.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. On-Site Execution & Project Supervision
- Supervise day-to-day construction activities to ensure execution adheres strictly to approved architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Monitor construction progress against baseline schedules and take corrective actions to prevent project delays.
- Maintain strict quality control for materials and workmanship as per company and industry standards.
- Implement site safety rules, regulations, and hazard prevention measures for all workers.
2. Workforce & Contractor Management
- Efficiently assign duties, manage daily labor workflows, and ensure maximum site productivity.
- Coordinate, guide, and manage sub-contractors, specialized agencies, and trade workers on-site.
- Measure and verify contractor work for accurate running account (RA) bill generation and payment approvals.
3. Material Procurement & Inventory Control
- Forecast material requirements based on schedule milestones and raise timely Indents/Requisitions to Head Office.
- Inspect incoming construction materials for quantity, quality, and compliance with specifications upon arrival at the site.
- Oversee site store management, track material usage, and minimize material wastage.
4. Stakeholder Coordination & Communication
- Head Office: Serve as the primary point of contact for project updates, daily/weekly progress reports, and administrative alignment.
- Vendors & Suppliers: Coordinate delivery timelines to ensure smooth, uninterrupted workflow.
- Contractors & Consultants: Resolve on-site execution conflicts, technical queries, and design clarifications promptly.
- Customers: Assist in managing client site visits, addressing technical queries, and facilitating customizations or inspections as per company protocols.
5. Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain accurate daily logs, site registers, attendance records, and material receipt/issue documentation.
- Prepare and submit regular project status reports directly to the Managing Director.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering.
- Experience: 8 to 12 years of hands-on site execution experience in multi-story residential and commercial building construction.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong command over structural execution, finishing work, concrete technology, reading technical drawings, and quality assurance procedures.
- Skills: Excellent leadership, site management, communication, problem-solving, and vendor negotiation skills.
- Language: Proficiency in English, Kannada, and Tulu (speaking Hindi/Konkani is an added advantage for local workforce management).
