Job summary

Jindal Steel Limited is seeking an experienced Mechanical & Piping Construction Lead to head the erection activities for Oxygen Plant/ASU projects. The role requires ensuring safety, quality, schedule adherence and successful commissioning.

You will plan, coordinate, and supervise installation of piping, equipment and accessories, manage site teams, review drawings, and collaborate with engineering, procurement, QA/QC, commissioning and client teams.

Qualifications

• Experience leading mechanical and piping construction in large-scale plants.
• Ability to coordinate with multiple teams (engineering, procurement, quality, commissioning).
• Commitment to safety and HSE at site.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and supervise mechanical and piping erection activities for Oxygen Plant/ASU projects.
• Execute installation of cold box and associated piping, compressors, pumps, columns, heat exchangers, vaporizers, storage tanks, pressure vessels, and associated equipment.
• Supervise fabrication, erection, alignment, fit-up, welding, and testing of process, utility, and cryogenic piping systems.
• Ensure construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, and project standards.
• Monitor project schedules and ensure achievement of construction milestones.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, quality, commissioning, and client teams.
• Review GA drawings, P&IDs, isometric drawings, equipment layouts, and construction packages.
• Identify construction bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to maintain project timelines.
• Manage construction supervisors, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Allocate manpower, equipment, and resources for optimum productivity.
• Conduct daily progress reviews and site coordination meetings.
• Verify contractor work quantities and certify progress measurements.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards.
• Monitor welding activities, NDT requirements, hydrotesting, pneumatic testing, flushing, and cleaning activities.
• Coordinate inspections with QA/QC teams and client representations.
• Ensure proper documentation of test reports, inspection records, and mechanical completion dossiers.
• Enforce HSE requirements and permit-to-work systems at site.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety audits, and risk assessments.
• Ensure safe handling of heavy lifts, pressure equipment, and cryogenic systems.
