Job summary

Adani Cement in Raigarh is seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to ensure safe, reliable operation and maintenance of electrical systems at the mining site during shifts.

You will lead electrical activities, coordinate with technicians, monitor HT/LT networks, perform preventive maintenance, attend breakdowns, and drive energy optimization while ensuring DGMS and statutory safety compliance.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or Diploma with relevant experience.
• 4-8 years of experience in electrical maintenance within mining, cement, steel, power, coal handling or heavy industrial operations.
• Open-cast mining experience preferred; shift maintenance and breakdown handling essential.

Responsibilities

• Ensure smooth operation and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment across the mine.
• Monitor and maintain HT/LT electrical networks, substations, transformers, switchgears, MCCs, PCCs, VFDs, and motors.
• Attend electrical breakdowns and restore equipment with minimum downtime.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance per schedules.
• Monitor power consumption and identify energy optimization opportunities.
• Ensure adherence to DGMS, Electrical Inspectorate, Mines Act, and safety standards.
• Implement LOTO procedures during maintenance activities.
• Lead and coordinate shift electrical activities and allocate tasks to technicians.
• Maintain shift logs, breakdown reports and maintenance records.
• Coordinate with operations and mechanical teams for planned shutdowns.

Job Purpose

To ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of all electrical equipment and systems during shift operations at the mining site. The role is responsible for minimizing equipment downtime, troubleshooting electrical issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Maintenance & Operations

• Ensure smooth operation and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment across the mine.
• Monitor and maintain HT/LT electrical networks, substations, transformers, switchgears, MCCs, PCCs, VFDs, and motors.
• Attend electrical breakdowns and restore equipment within minimum downtime.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities as per maintenance schedules.
• Monitor power consumption and identify opportunities for energy optimization.

Equipment Reliability

• Ensure availability and reliability of mining equipment electrical systems, including:
• • Shovels/Excavators
  • Crushers
  • Conveyors
  • Pumps
  • CHP systems
  • Workshop electrical installations
• Analyze recurring failures and implement corrective actions.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to DGMS, Electrical Inspectorate, Mines Act, and statutory safety standards.
• Implement Electrical Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance activities.
• Conduct safety inspections and hazard identification during shifts.
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and permit-to-work systems.

Shift Management

• Lead and coordinate shift electrical activities.
• Allocate jobs to technicians and monitor work execution.
• Maintain shift logs, breakdown reports, and maintenance records.
• Coordinate with operations and mechanical teams for planned shutdowns and maintenance activities.

Continuous Improvement

• Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for major breakdowns.
• Recommend modifications and improvements to increase equipment reliability.
• Support implementation of reliability and condition monitoring initiatives.

Educational Qualification

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
• Diploma in Electrical Engineering with relevant experience may also be considered.

Experience

• 4-8 years of experience in electrical maintenance within Mining, Cement, Steel, Power, Coal Handling, or Heavy Industrial operations.
• Experience in open-cast mining operations will be preferred.
• Exposure to shift maintenance activities and breakdown handling is essential.
