Job summary

Frigate Engineering Services in Tamil Nadu, India, seeks an experienced CNC programmer and process engineer for sheet metal fabrication. You will oversee CNC laser cutting, punching, and press brake operations, ensuring quality, delivery, productivity, and safe working practices.

You will guide operators, coordinate with Quality and Production teams, optimize material utilization and cycle times, and drive continuous process improvements to reduce scrap and rework.

Qualifications

• Diploma or BE in Mechanical, Sheet Metal, Production, or a relevant engineering discipline.
• 8–10 years in sheet metal fabrication, CNC programming, machine setup, and process development.
• CNC laser cutting, CNC punching, and press brake programming, setup, nesting, bend sequence planning.

Responsibilities

• Program, edit, validate, and control CNC laser cutting, CNC punching, and CNC press brake programs.
• Manage machine setup, tooling, nesting, bend sequence, first-off prove-out, and process parameters.
• Interpret engineering drawings, flat patterns, material specifications, GD&T, and customer requirements.
• Guide and support machine operators in setup, operation, and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate first-piece inspection and approval with the independent Quality team.
• Optimize sheet utilization, cycle time, setup time, tool life, and fabrication productivity.
• Troubleshoot cutting, punching, and bending issues and support corrective actions to reduce scrap and rework.
• Maintain approved programs, setup sheets, tooling records, and production documentation with revision control.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality, PPC, Stores, and Maintenance to meet production schedules.
• Ensure machine guarding, safe operation, work-instruction compliance, and 5S.

Job Purpose
