Job summary

Messung Group is seeking a skilled operator for sheet metal bending operations. You will handle CNC/Press Brake machinery, read engineering and bending drawings, and set parameters to achieve precise dimensions while minimizing waste.

You will inspect first pieces and conduct in-process checks, ensuring quality and adherence to 5S and Lean practices. Collaboration with multiple teams and adherence to safety are essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of sheet metal bending operations.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of bend allowance, bend deduction, K-factor, and bend sequence preferred.
• Ability to operate CNC/Press Brake bending machines.
• Knowledge of MS, SS, GI, and Aluminium sheet metals.
• Measuring instruments and basic inspection methods.
• Basic machine troubleshooting and tool selection.
• Safety awareness and production target focus.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC/Press Brake/Sheet Metal Bending Machines as per production requirements.
• Read and understand engineering drawings, bending drawings, dimensions, and specifications.
• Set machine parameters: bending angle, back gauge, stroke, pressure, tooling.
• Select and install punches, dies, and bending tools.
• Perform first-piece inspection and ensure dimensions and tolerances.
• Measure components with Vernier caliper, tape, angle gauge, micrometer, etc.
• Maintain bending accuracy and minimize wastage.
• Follow production plan and report issues promptly.
• Coordinate with Laser Cutting, Welding, Grinding, Quality, and Production teams for workflow.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Operate CNC / Press Brake / Sheet Metal Bending Machines as per production requirements.
• Read and understand engineering drawings, bending drawings, dimensions, and specifications.
• Set machine parameters such as bending angle, back gauge, stroke, pressure, and tooling.
• Select and install the appropriate punches, dies, and bending tools.
• Perform first-piece inspection and ensure components are produced within specified dimensions and tolerances.
• Measure components using Vernier caliper, measuring tape, angle gauge, micrometer, and other inspection tools.
• Maintain required bending accuracy and minimize material wastage.
• Follow the daily production plan and target provided by the supervisor.
• Carry out in-process quality checks and immediately report dimensional or quality issues.
• Identify and rectify minor machine-setting or process-related issues.
• Ensure proper handling and movement of sheet metal to avoid scratches, dents, and other damage.
• Maintain machine cleanliness and perform basic machine maintenance, lubrication, and housekeeping.
• Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and work instructions.
• Maintain production records, inspection records, and machine-related checklists.
• Coordinate with Laser Cutting, Welding, Grinding, Quality, and Production teams for smooth workflow.
• Report machine breakdowns, tool damage, material issues, or abnormal machine conditions to the supervisor.
• Follow 5S, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement practices.
• Ensure proper identification and segregation of OK, Rework, and Rejected components.
• Perform other production-related activities assigned by the supervisor or management.

Preferred candidate profile

• Good knowledge of sheet metal bending operations.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of bend allowance, bend deduction, K-factor, and bend sequence is preferred.
• Ability to operate CNC/Press Brake bending machines.
• Knowledge of different sheet metal materials such as MS, SS, GI, and Aluminium.
• Knowledge of measuring instruments and basic inspection methods.
• Basic knowledge of machine troubleshooting and tool selection.
• Good understanding of workplace safety.
• Ability to achieve production targets while maintaining quality.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.

• 25 years of relevant experience in sheet metal fabrication/bending.
• Experience in operating CNC Press Brake / Hydraulic Press Brake / CNC Bending Machine preferred.
• Fresh ITI candidates with relevant machine-operation knowledge may also be considered.
