Job summary

Skillventory in Jamnagar, India is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 3-7 years of hands-on experience in process engineering. The role focuses on shaping processes for silicon ingots/bricks, optimizing parameters, and ensuring product quality through meticulous data analysis and corrective actions.

You will lead a small team, monitor machining stability, contribute to Lean Six Sigma initiatives, and collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and R&D to implement improvements.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–7 years of experience in process engineering/manufacturing.
• Minimum 2 years leading a team responsible for maintaining stability of machining processes (e.g., CNC or grinding).
• Strong understanding of surface roughness and statistics used in production.
• Hands-on understanding of metal cutting and grinding processes.
• Experience in process monitoring, optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement within a manufacturing setup.
• Candidates from Solar, Semiconductor, Automobile Parts Machining, or other high-tech industries preferred.
• Experience with diamond wire cutting, squaring, grinding, or related shaping processes is an added advantage.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Minitab.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001/14001/45001/50001 and Six Sigma/Kaizen/SPC/TQM is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control silicon ingot/brick shaping processes to ensure stability and product quality.
• Optimize process parameters to improve yield, reduce kerf loss, minimize defects, and enhance productivity.
• Analyse process data and identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction; troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and R&D to implement process improvements and new technologies.
• Support process validation, qualification, and trials for new consumables, tools, and equipment.
• Develop and maintain process documentation including CP, SOPs, PFMEA, and Work Instructions.
• Monitor and optimize performance of diamond wires, grinding wheels, and other process consumables.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality management system requirements.
• Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives; provide training to operators and technicians.
• Maintain accurate process records and report process performance metrics.
• If required, work in shifts to monitor shift process performance and troubleshoot issues.

  Troubleshoot process-related issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and R&D teams to implement process improvements and new technologies.
• Support process validation, qualification, and trials for new consumables, tools, and equipment.
• Develop and maintain process documentation including Control Plans (CP), SOPs, PFMEA, and Work Instructions.
• Monitor and optimize performance of diamond wires, grinding wheels, and other process consumables.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality management system requirements.
• Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  Provide technical support and training to operators and technicians.
• Maintain accurate process records and report process performance metrics.
• If Required need to come in shifts to monitor shift process performance.
• Need to attend the trouble shooting activities in shifts.

Preferred candidate profile

• * B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• * 3-7 years of relevant experience in process engineering/manufacturing.
• * Minimum 2 years of experience in leading a team responsible for maintaining the stability of machining processes such as CNC or grinding.
• * Strong understanding of surface roughness and statistical techniques used in production.
• * Hands-on understanding of metal cutting and grinding processes.
