Job summary

Genxhire Services is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a role focused on Silicon ingot/brick shaping in a solar/semiconductor manufacturing environment. You will monitor, optimize, and standardize processes while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • B.E./ B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Understanding of surface roughness and metal cutting/grinding.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control silicon ingot/brick shaping processes to ensure stability and quality.
  • Optimize process parameters to improve yield and productivity.
  • Analyse data for process improvement and cost reduction; troubleshoot issues.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and R&D teams on improvements.
  • Support validation and trials for new consumables and equipment.
  • Develop and maintain CP, SOPs, PFMEA, and work instructions.
  • Monitor consumables like diamond wires and grinding wheels for performance.
  • Ensure safety, environmental, and quality management compliance.
  • Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide training to operators and technicians.

Job description

Job Purpose

The incumbent in this role will be responsible for supporting and optimizing Mono Si Ingot/Brick Shaping processes to achieve targeted productivity, quality, yield, cost, and safety objectives within the Solar PV manufacturing operation. The role will focus on process monitoring, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, process standardization, and implementation of engineering initiatives to ensure stable and efficient manufacturing performance.

Role & responsibilities:
  • Monitor and control silicon ingot/brick shaping processes including diamond wire cutting, squaring, and grinding operations to ensure process stability and product quality.
  • Optimize process parameters to improve yield, reduce kerf loss, minimize defects, and enhance productivity.
  • Analyse process data and identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
    Troubleshoot process-related issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and R&D teams to implement process improvements and new technologies.
  • Support process validation, qualification, and trials for new consumables, tools, and equipment.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation including Control Plans (CP), SOPs, PFMEA, and Work Instructions.
  • Monitor and optimize performance of diamond wires, grinding wheels, and other process consumables.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality management system requirements.
  • Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    Provide technical support and training to operators and technicians.
  • Maintain accurate process records and report process performance metrics.
  • If Required need to come in shifts to monitor shift process performance.
  • Need to attend the trouble shooting activities in shifts.
  • Need to compile and report shift process performance.
Qualifications:
  • B.E./ B.Tech Mechanical
Required Technical Experience
  • Understanding the application of surface roughness and statistical techniques of production. Understanding for metal cutting and grinding experience.
Required Leadership Experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in leading a team to manage the stability of a machining process such as CNC, grinding process.
Experience
  • Essential Work experience: 3 to 7 Years
  • Industry Preference: Solar, Semiconductor, automobile parts machining process or other high-tech Industry.
