Job summary

IBA is hiring the installation team for Hyderabad’s second Proton Therapy Center. The BMS engineer will lead installation, calibration and commissioning of beam-related subsystems, ensuring the beam meets specifications and that safety, quality and timing requirements are satisfied.

Based in Hyderabad or willing to relocate, you should have experience in High Energy Physics or Medical Physics, strong Python and Excel skills, and be prepared for rotating shifts, night work and weekends up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate and commission beam-related equipment on the Proton Therapy site.
• Calibrate beam-related equipment following procedures to meet specs.
• Operate and understand the system software/hardware architecture.
• Set and align dosimetry tools and verify performance against requirements.
• Analyze data to diagnose potential technical issues and ensure quality and timing.
• Manage all beam-related commissioning activities (Pencil Beam Scanning, etc.).
• Troubleshoot equipment to maintain state-of-the-art performance.

Mission

IBA is hiring the installation team for Hyderabad’s second Proton Therapy (PT) Center. The PT center will be home to IBA Proteus One, featuring a compact one-room solution powered by a superconducting synchrocyclotron. The installation is expected to start between November 2026 and February 2027. It will be delivered within 12 months by an IBA team of 9 motivated individuals. The BMS (Beam Management System) engineer’s first mission is expected to last ~18 months, including pre-assignment training and support for the site's transition to Operations.

As BMS Engineer (Beam management system), you are responsible for installation, calibration and commissioning activities on the Proton Therapy site, with a specific focus on the beam and physics subsystems.

• Participating in the installation of a broad range of IBA equipment and technical tools on the Proton Therapy site with a specific focus on beam-related equipment
• Performing the beam-related equipment calibration following procedures
• Operating the system (understanding the software/hardware architecture of the system and the PT center components) in order to obtain a beam that matches the requirements
• Setting and aligning Dosimetry tools
• Critically analyzing a large amount of data to diagnose potential technical issues
• Testing and validating the equipment according to the specifications and ensuring the customer requirements are met in terms of compliance, quality, technical performance and timing
• Managing all aspects of beam-related commissioning activities: Pencil Beam Scanning (PBS) etc.
• Troubleshooting the equipment
• Ensuring the highest quality of state-of-the-art technologies and services

Compensation package

The total guaranteed annual compensation range (which includes annual base salary, as well as flexible budget if applicable, and car budget in specific locations) for this position is provided below:

Total gross guaranteed annual compensation range: 1.4 LPA - 2.4 LPA

The salary range indicated above is provided in compliance with applicable pay transparency requirements and reflects the typical compensation scope for this position based on the role's level of responsibility, required expertise, and location. The actual offer will be determined on an individual basis, taking into account objective and gender-neutral factors including relevant professional experience, qualifications, specific competencies, and internal equity. The range does not constitute a guaranteed salary and is subject to adjustment based on the final assessment of the selected candidate's profile. The role might also qualify for additional compensation elements such as variable pay, profit sharing, and benefits which are not reflected in this range.
