Job summary

Siemens Mobility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, seeks an experienced PLC & Automation Engineer for automobile manufacturing plants. You will troubleshoot Siemens PLCs, work on HMI, VFDs, load cells and instrumentation, and support automation maintenance across various production shops.

The role requires hands-on PLC programming, panel maintenance and a proactive approach to plant safety and process improvements in a high‑volume automotive environment.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Electrical, Electronics or Instrumentation Engineering.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in PLC/automation maintenance.
• Experience in an automobile manufacturing/assembly plant is preferred.
• Strong hands-on experience in Siemens PLC troubleshooting and programming.
• Good knowledge of TIA Portal, SIMATIC Manager and RSLogix.
• Working knowledge of HMI, VFDs, instrumentation and industrial PCs.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot Siemens PLCs including S7-200, S7-300, S7-400 and S7-1200, and Allen-Bradley CompactLogix PLCs.
• Handle PLC systems across Press Shop, Axle Shop, Frame Shop, Paint Shop and Test Cells in an automobile assembly plant.
• Troubleshoot PLC hardware/software and perform fault diagnosis.
• Work with PLC programming and engineering software including SIMATIC Manager, TIA Portal and RSLogix.
• Perform PLC program backup and restoration when required.
• Carry out minor PLC program modifications to improve machine efficiency.
• Perform scheduled maintenance of PLC systems.
• Calibrate and troubleshoot load cells and instrumentation devices.
• Perform VFD programming, troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Troubleshoot and perform minor modifications in HMI systems.
• Carry out basic troubleshooting and program checks for industrial robots.
• Handle Industrial PCs, including backup, restoration and hard-disk cloning.
• Follow applicable safety precautions and EHS requirements on the shop floor.
