Job summary

Sustainiam seeks a Senior Trade Associate to join its Trading & Strategic Transactions team in Noida. This role focuses on structuring deals in carbon credits and renewable energy certificate markets, managing risks, and identifying opportunities in the climate tech trading ecosystem.

The ideal candidate will have 4-8 years of experience, with at least 3-5 years in carbon credits or I-REC markets. Strong analytical and negotiation skills are a must, along with a relevant bachelor's degree.

Role Overview: Senior Trade Associate

Join our Trading & Strategic Transactions team to:

  • Structure deals, manage risks, and capture opportunities in global carbon and renewable energy certificate markets
  • Be a key player in India’s climate tech trading ecosystem

Note: Minimum 3–5 years’ hands‑on experience in carbon credits or I-REC markets is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Structure, negotiate, and execute long-term OTC contracts in carbon credits and I-REC markets
  • Design innovative deal frameworks aligned with market trends and sustainability goals
  • Develop trading strategies to maximize margins and manage risk
  • Analyze carbon and energy certificate markets to identify trends, opportunities, and risks
  • Build and manage a forward trading book aligned with business targets
  • Conduct market research, investment analysis, and due diligence
Client & Internal Collaboration
  • Partner with sales/origination teams for seamless trade execution
  • Advise clients and stakeholders on timing, pricing, and trade structuring
  • Build strong relationships with clients, project developers, and counterparties
Operations, Reporting & Compliance
  • Ensure smooth billing, payment, and settlement in line with contracts (PPAs, PSAs)
  • Coordinate project monitoring, audits, and compliance documentation
  • Contribute to SDG reporting, trade performance tracking, and internal dashboards
  • Stay updated on carbon market regulations, SDG frameworks, and energy transition trends
  • Transform research insights into actionable trading opportunities
Who We’re Looking For

Must-Have:

  • 4–8 years total experience, with 3–5 years in carbon credits/I-REC markets
  • Strong understanding of carbon market mechanisms and global environmental commodities
  • Proven ability to structure and negotiate trading contracts
  • Strong analytical, research, and financial modeling skills
  • Excellent client relationship, communication, and negotiation abilities

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Energy, Environmental Studies, or related field
  • Exposure to international carbon standards (Verra, Gold Standard, I-REC, etc.)
  • Experience collaborating with legal, compliance, and finance teams
