Role: Senior Tester POS
Location: Hybrid – Work from office 3 days per week
Experience Required: 5–8 years
Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Senior POS Tester with strong hands-on expertise in both manual and API testing of retail Point of Sale solutions. The candidate will be responsible for end-to-end quality validation across store, payment, inventory, promotion, returns, and integrated retail workflows. The role requires close collaboration with business, development, product, and support teams to deliver stable, reliable releases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct end-to-end functional testing of retail POS systems across desktop, mobile, and store-device workflows.
- Validate sales transactions, tenders and payment processing, discounts and promotions, taxes, receipts, returns, refunds, exchanges, inventory updates, and operational reporting.
- Design, review, maintain, and execute manual test scenarios, test cases, test data, and regression packs based on business requirements and user stories.
- Validate integrations between POS and upstream or downstream systems, including inventory, merchandising, pricing, order management, payments, loyalty, and finance interfaces.
- Perform API and service-level validation using Postman or similar tools and verify backend data using SQL.
- Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects using JIRA or an equivalent defect-management platform; support defect triage and root-cause analysis.
- Prepare test plans, requirement traceability, execution status, defect metrics, and test summary reports for stakeholders.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, product owners, and support teams to clarify requirements, assess quality risks, and ensure release readiness.
- Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
Mandatory Skills:
- Experience: At least 5+ years of software testing experience, with significant hands-on experience in retail POS systems.
- Manual Testing: Strong expertise in test analysis, scenario identification, test-case design, test execution, exploratory testing, defect management, and regression testing.
- POS Domain: Strong understanding of POS business flows, including sales, payments, discounts, promotions, taxes, receipts, returns, refunds, exchanges, and inventory impact.
- API-Level Testing: Mandatory hands-on experience in API-level testing using Postman or similar tools.
- Test Types: Experience in functional, integration, system, regression, smoke, and user acceptance testing.
- Test Management: Experience using tools such as JIRA/Zephyr, HP ALM, Azure DevOps, or MS TFS for test and defect management.
- Handheld Device Testing: Mandatory hands‑on experience testing handheld devices used in retail or POS operations.
- Work Arrangement: Ability and willingness to work from the office 3 days each week, selecting any 3 days between Monday and Thursday.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication, analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
Nice to Have:
- Knowledge of database testing and ability to write SQL queries for backend validation.
- Experience testing POS integrations with payment terminals, loyalty, e‑commerce, order management, merchandising, inventory, or finance systems.
- Exposure to mobile POS, self‑checkout, offline‑mode, peripheral‑device, and cross‑browser testing.
- Knowledge of retail industry standards, security, and compliance requirements.
- Experience with test data management, service virtualization, or API automation testing.
- ISTQB or relevant test automation certification.
Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and a structured, quality‑focused approach.
- Ability to manage multiple test streams, environments, priorities, and deadlines.
- Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and automation effectiveness.
- Ability to mentor junior testers, review test assets, and promote QA best practices
