Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to develop and maintain high-quality documentation for wireless products.

The role collaborates with engineering and cross-functional teams to translate complex wireless and embedded technologies into clear, customer-focused materials. You will own documentation deliverables from planning to release, ensuring accuracy of diagrams, register maps, APIs, and workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• 5–8 years of experience in technical writing or documentation.
• Experience with wireless and embedded technologies.
• Familiarity with XML/DITA and structured authoring is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain technical documentation for wireless SoCs, modules, development boards, and related software/tools.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, applications, validation, product management, and marketing teams to gather and validate information.
• Own documentation deliverables from planning through review and release.
• Review specifications, register maps, and inputs for accuracy and consistency.
• Create technical diagrams, tables, and workflows as required.
• Ensure documentation follows Microchip standards and editorial guidelines.
• Drive content reuse and documentation process improvements across the wireless portfolio.
• Coordinate technical reviews and manage feedback to timely completion.
• Leverage AI and automation to improve documentation efficiency.

Job Description

Microchip is looking for a Senior Technical Writer, who can develop and maintain high-quality technical documentation for Microchip Technology’s Wireless Products Business Unit. The role involves working closely with engineering and cross-functional teams to translate complex wireless and embedded technologies into clear, accurate, and customer-focused documentation.

Key Skills

• Strong technical writing, editing, and information-development skills.
• Good understanding of wireless technologies, embedded systems, semiconductor products, and software/firmware.
• Ability to understand and document hardware features, register maps, APIs, commands, configuration parameters, and application workflows.
• Experience with technical documentation such as datasheets, user guides, application notes, developer guides, reference manuals, programming specifications, product briefs, and online documentation.
• Experience with XML/DITA, structured authoring, content reuse, and single-sourcing is preferred.
• Familiarity with tools such as Oxygen XML Editor, Tridion Docs, FrameMaker, Inkscape, Jira, and Confluence is an advantage.
• Strong collaboration, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deliverables and meet product release schedules.

• Ensure documentation follows Microchip documentation standards, templates, terminology, and editorial guidelines.
• Drive content reuse, structured authoring, and documentation process improvements across the wireless product portfolio.
• Coordinate technical reviews, resolve feedback, and ensure timely completion of documentation deliverables.
• Leverage AI and automation where appropriate to improve documentation development, review, and publishing efficiency.
